Job Advice Quickly (My intestines are full of liquid)
So I just started at Pizza Hut as a delivery driver. Tonight will be my second night.
Unfortunately I have a fever of 101.6 and I've been having diarrhea since last night. Now, my employee handbook says if I have a fever or diarrhea I should call off. However, seeing how it's only my second day, I'm worried that this might, well, lose me the job.
I have no idea what to do. I know I shouldn't go in, and in a perfect world that would be understood by my employers. It's their policy, not mine. What should I do?

I would call in. As soon as you can. If you're that new they shouldn't really be relying on you too much yet. Also actually showing up really sick and and all that might not work out. Be sure you talk to a manager though, so you can assure them you really are sick and feel bad about it. Offer to pick up an extra shift later in the week if they need you to.

Call in and explain you realize it is only the second night and don't be afraid to express your concern of your job security. Tell them you're more than willing to come back as soon as you get over the illness.

The process of hiring someone costs enough that they aren't going to just fire you for calling in sick on your second day.
Like mentioned, offer to cover a shift later in the week. Also, if you've gone or plan to go to the doctor, get documentation and give it to your manager, even if it's not required.
Would it be better if I called the manager who hired me and explained the situation, basically asking if I should come in or not? I mean, I only work 3 hours tonight. I could get through it if I really needed to.
Yeah since you're working in food service or customer service I'd advise against going in. If you had like an office position I'd probably say go in and if they send you home so be it.

Yep just call them up and let them know the situation. Be prepared to answer the question "Do you think you can make it through tonight?" because that's going to be what you're asked, most likely.

Besides, jobs like that are a dime a dozen.
but they're listening to every word I say
