This has been bothering me forever and I can't get a good answer anywhere. I have my regular profile that I used before I ever had Live, and it's got a huge gamerscore on it and tons of games i've played. My Live profile has like 2 games and less than a thousand gamerscore. Any way I can merge these or anything? I feel I need to be out there reppin my awesomeness for the world, but it's hard to do when I can't merge my two accounts.
Yeah, MS expect you to recover your gamertag before doing anything else if you already had one. If you want to keep your old name you have to pay 800 MS points to change it.
So if you were Bobito online and you have your offline Bobito tag, you would log onto Bobito, and change it to something like Bobito X, which would charge you 800 points. Then you sign out and register your offline tag under Bobito, as that name is now available.
You have to resubscribe under your new name and copy all the friends over if you do this. It's also recommended that you keep the old one on your storage device for stuff like redownloading any content that belongs to it.
