What scanner should I get?

I browsered around here and AC but couldn't find anything about scanners. I figured since many of you like to digitally color your penciled sketches you would know quite a bit about the scanners out there and which I should purchase. I jumped on newegg and found this one, which has received quite a few good reviews:

However, it's only $41 and I have a nagging feeling that it will be too cheap to be any good. What I am looking for is something that can scan in my line art so I can color and shade it in photoshop. Is this good enough? If not, what price range and features should I look for?

    You should get one from the ScanTastic VX400 range. Comes with dual mouse-boot input and seven different spectral scans. Can be a compatability issue if you're using Paintware 4, though.

    I read the rules thread, I know of the chat/question thread, but I thought this could warrant a topic of its own. I figured that since scanners are widely used people could talk, in general, about scanners and art. It was a judgement call.

    I tried one of those, but when I plugged it in all the lights in my house went off.

    You don't think that tablets are widely used here? You don't think that maybe the same thing would apply to scanners? Maybe? Just for your future reference, next time you start a new thread here, put some art in it. Otherwise it probably belongs in an already existing thread (questions) or on some other forum (does deviantArt have a forum?).

    Yeah, those scanners are pretty crappy, it's hard to put the paper properly. Also, they explod on your face.

    That is seriously one of the worst sound-tracks/themes ever. I remember I used to sing that to my friend over and over just to piss him off... until he punched me. Then I kinda whispered it into his hear when he least expected it and ran like hell :lol:

    In relation to all forms of 'mon, today I read a whole lot of shit on Wiki about Digimon, just to spark the memories in my brain. It was wonderful. I think I'm going to have an 156 episode Digimon Marathon at some point (excluding the fourth season which I never watched).
