I was recently in the states and I bought some Marlboro Lights and I love those. Is there anything in Canada that I can buy that are similar in taste to the Marlboro Lights? I tried Players Light and it's not as good.

Any suggestions?

I have a similar frustration -- you just can't find anything close to Lucky Strikes up in Canada -- and I think your best bet is just to buy a carton or two in Michigan or New York and pay the duty on your way back up.

If you'd ever smoked Canadian cigarettes, believe me, you'd understand. KOOLs probably would have blown him away. :D

I dunno what it is with Canadian cigarettes and their insistance on sucking. Theres nothing like Marlboro cept Marlboro, and nothing will give you that hacking ohgodmythroatisbeingscrapedwithsteelwool feeling like Camels unfiltered.

My faves, though I dont smoke them anymore, include JPS (John Players Special) and Export A. For writing I like Rossignols (sp?) simply because they are slower burn and dont turn instantly to ash between paragraphs.

Personally, I much preferred Canadians or Players to the majority of American cigarettes. Since some of my friends disagree, I know that you can find American smokes in Canada. Specialty stores will certainly carry them and even a lot of mom and pop shops will too if you ask around.

Unfortunately, you can expect to pay $2-3 extra a pack.

Can't you just buy a few cartons and take them back to Canada? I suppose there'd be a limit on how many you can take but it can't be less than a few, right?

Usually if there is a smoker's corner type store in a mall, they will sell them. Like an_alt said, they will probably be a few bucks extra.

ALL 7-11's carry american brands. Or try to find a cheap "smoke shop", you know, those little convenience stores that dont really sell much else? A lot of them get their shit literally off the back of a truck, which means a lot of it is stolen or brought over illegally from the US, hence, a lot of US brands. Theres a store on lakeshore blvd in toronto that sells literally nothing else except cartons of marlboro lights for 30 bucks each, and none of them have the duty paid wrappers. Too bad marlboros suck.

And no, you wont find anything made in canada thats similar to marlboros. At least not that you can buy at the store. On the reservations theres a brand called Menage that to me tastes similar to marlboros, but maybe thats just because both give me a ripping headache and make me want to throw up.

Haha...for cigarettes? No way. Cigarette smuggling between US and Canada is actually a pretty lucrative business, especially on the reservations. Although I suppose it has died down a little bit since the criminally inclined have discovered the marvels of cooking meth.

odd..i coulda swore they sold American cigarettes in Canada as well, or at least in BC I think they did...I do remember getting some Players to try them out but was surely not impressed....i'd suggest you try 7-11 like someone else mentioned, i'm pretty sure i've seen Canadianized American cigarettes...Canadianized being the process of putting pictures of lung cancer and all that crap on them, yuck.....i'm assuming they still do that?

I got a pack of cigarettes that look like Marlboro Lights and they taste similar but they aren't Marlboros. In fact, they don't have any markings as to what brand they are. On the side it says World Famous Premium Blend.

They actually do sell American branded cigs in Canada ... but they don't taste like the same branded counterparts you'd buy in the US.

My theory is that it has to do with Canadian government regulations on what chemicals are allowed to be put into Canadian cigs.

I too love "real" ie. bought in states, Marlboro Lights.

Sooooo.... speaking of Menage cigarettes - has anyone got any information on these things, like tar and nicotine content? Searched and can find absolutely nout.
