Violent Love Songs?

Maybe a little weird, but after hearing Ludo in a recent House MD commercial, i got their cd on a whim and really like the style of music they do. Its sort of like a pop rock, violent-love-song type deal.

I also really enjoy The Misfits adventures into this territory, like Dig Up Her Bones, Saturday Night, Hybrid Moments, and Skulls.

Something about combination of violence and sweet lyrics just makes me dig it.

So I was wondering if any of you guys who were more familiar with modern rock had any ideas on songs or bands that covered this topic as well.

    Hi,

I don't know if you would consider this a violent love song, but in the soundtrack of Resident Evil Apocalypse, there is a song that talks about love and suicide:

H.I.M. - Join Me In Death

Another possibility is the German band Rammstein with the song "Du Hast".

Um. Any album by bleeding through
The Blood Brothers - Love Rhymes with Hideous Car Wreck
    As I Lay Dying - 94 Hours

Poison The Well - Nerdy (This one takes the cake really.)

Why do your eyes paralyze me?
What makes me feel this way?
Carry me away with silence and heartbeats as rapid
    Thinking about your embrace
And how it makes me feel
I just want to feel this way forever
Sleep on portraits painted as perfect as you
Why have I been given the chance to fly
When I'm not with you I feel lesser alone
Why have I been given the chance to fly, away?
I remember your face imprinted on angels
Your voice as beautiful as the sounds of waves
    Crashing against my heart
Time slows down when you look at me
I'm infatuated with this / infatuated with you
I remember your face imprinted on angels

    It's a little more comedic, I guess.

The song Physical from the album Broken

    From The Downward Spiral:
    Closer
    Reptile
Big Man With A Gun (You said violent, right?)

Those are the more 'violent' ones I can think off. His stuff becomes less heavy over time.

    By Puscifer:
    The Undertaker
Revelations 22:20 (The one from the Underworld soundtrack is better IMO)

    This Love - Pantera
    Passenger - Deftones

And just cause I feel like pissing people off Under the Moon by Insane Clown Posse.

Deftones has a lot of stuff like that. They're not all that heavy but a lot of the lyrics are violently sexy. Check out stuff like MX, Feiteceira, Mascara, Elite, Dai the Flu, Street Carp, Knife Party. Example:
    MX wrote:
    ...
you're sweet but im tired of proving this love
    see you're a bore
but you move me, like a movie that you love

let me think (let you think about what?)
    about girls (and what else?)
and money, and new clothes (and what do i get?)
    thirty nights (uh huh)
    of violence (yeah?)
    and sugar to love

    closer to the lung

They also did a really good cover of No Ordinary Love by Sade that I think you'd probably like.

    Lyrics:

and death lay in my arms as colors fade

lying restful safe in my arms
steady rhythm trust she'll come to no harm

The song 'Loverman' as performed by Metallica on the Garage Inc. album (it's a cover album; I don't recall the original artist) - the lyrics aren't as explicitly violent as some of those mentioned, but it's got a very creepy-stalkerish subtext-of-violence thing going on.

'Back off Bitch' by Guns n' Roses off Use Your Illusion I may fit this from a lyrical standpoint, although it might be too up-tempo.

'Self Esteem' by Offspring kinda-sorta fits.

edit: can't believe I forgot 'Die Die My Darling', again performed by (but not written by) Metallica on Garage Inc.:

    Die, die, die my darling
    Don't utter a single word
    Die, die, die my darling
    Just shut your pretty mouth
Don't cry to me oh baby
Your future's in an oblong box

I'm a Senses Fail whore, so I'll have to suggest them. Here's a song: Tie her down:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGJ9VXyc4bA

    Lyrics:

So love me gently with a chainsaw (chainsaw)
And take the glass against your wrists.
You know I am your worst nightmare,
Oh how you love my bloody kiss.

    But it's time to die.
    You're worth more dead.

    Tell me your fantasies,
    I'll make you believe,
    That I really care.
    I'll look into your eyes,
I'll tell you all my lies.
    As I take you slow.

So love me gently with a chainsaw (chainsaw)
I'll leave you like your father did.
I'll bite your lip so fucking, so hard.
And watch the innocence just drip

    Down your chest,
    And into my mouth.

    Tell me your fantasies,
    I'll make you believe,
    That I really care.
    I'll look into your eyes,
I'll tell you all my lies.
    As I take you slow.

So take your tears and go away.
So take your tears and go away.
A bitter ending from a slow decay.
So take your tears and go away.
And I'll sit here with a smile and a match.

The lies, she cried, the heartache [x3]
And the lies, she cried, the heartache.

Sorry for the triple post, but here's another good SF song for you: (187)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3rYbLr0CVU

It's so nice sitting very still,
in a room where no one else can feel
the pain that breaks my heart each day, I'm not ok.
    Sunlight shining through my window,
lets me know that I'm still alive
But why did I ever let you inside my heart? I'm such a fool.
Paint my face in shades of blood and grey
and take the seat right next to me
But I should have known that you were a killer. But now I'm dead.

A gaping hole, shot through my heart
A lost connection from your poison dart
Shot from your tongue to end my life.
But if you're blowing at the fire to light your strife.

You'll never know, oh yeah. You'll never know, oh no.
The hardest thing about dying is, knowing you'll never see the light of day.

A gaping hole... (shot through my heart)
A lost connection from your poison dart.
My head now spins and my ears bleed gold.
I try so fucking hard, but I can't fit your mold.

The hardest thing about dying is, knowing you'll never see the light of day. [x2]

You ripped my heart out, you tore my eyes out, now you're gonna pay
    I'll stab you one time.
I'll eat your heart out, so you feel my pain.
Don't you know that I always see you in all of my dreams?

I wanna kill you. I wanna kill you. Now I'm insane. [x3]

Lots of people consider sex to be love, so...

The Exploited - Sex And Violence.

It's not really a good song by any means, and the lyrics consist of 3 words; sex, and, violence. So, yeah. There's a love and violence song for ya.

    -edit-
Oh, and who knows WTF they're singing, but Curl Up And Die's You'd Look Cuter If I Shot You In The Face and Kissing You Is Like Licking An Ashtray certainly convey the message of twisted affection. And there's nothing gentle about their music. (I suggest listening to this to get an idea of their sound)

Action Patrol's cover of Cindi Lauper's Time After Time is awesome. (RVA! crappy vid, I know, but that show was awesome)

There's a bunch of Screeching Weasel love songs, but their stuff is kind of poppy. Umm. NOFX's song Lori Meyers.

Another vote for Poison the Well here.

Nerdy (Opposite of December, 1999), as has been mentioned:
Why do your eyes paralyze me
What makes me feel this way
Just carry me away with silence and heartbeats
As rapid thinking about your embrace
and how it makes me feel

Why have I been given the chance to fly
When I'm not with you I feel lesser alone
I remember your face / imprinted on angels
Your voice as beautiful / as the sounds of waves
    crashing against my heart
Time slows down when you look at me
I'm infatuated with this / infatuated with you
It's so hard for me to understand why
I hadn't found you before don't dull away
    hold my hand

For a Bandaged Iris (You Come Before You, 2003):
I know we've never met and you'll probably never read this.
There are certain things your voice does to me, it makes me feel the ground
    and sky again.
How sad it is when you spill your guts on the paper.
It only neglects you and never relieves.
In every corner and space I search for you,
I've only found your vocal cords.
Hate that I'm never certain of what needs what most.
All day your songs spin me into a romance repeatedly to the sky.
Scream over and over again repeatedly to the sky.
In every corner and space I search for you,
I've only found your vocal cords.
Hate that I'm never certain of what needs what most.
And nothing has affected me so...
In every corner and space I search for you,
I've only found your vocal cords.
Hate that I'm never certain of what needs what most.

You Will Not Be Welcomed (Versions, 2007):
With your hand in mine the others tell me they need you,
To keep the rest at bay yelling sadness disagreement,
Pulling you into me, into body, the others will think ill of me.

    You are sustenance
    But my companion
    So I want alone
    Companion doesn't make good conversation

Giving you up I drown in eye water
    as you are taken away,
hiding the fact that I'm breaking apart inside

    You are sustenance
    But my companion
    So I want alone
    Companion doesn't make good conversation

    Sitting at the social event
    I devour more of you
    because I know that's what you'd want
Your head on a plate, eyes cold in sleep
    You taste like dreams

    You are sustenance
    But my companion
    So I want alone
    Companion doesn't make good conversation

They've got tons of this stuff, these are just a few examples.
