My recent EA nightmare

So I've been a big Warhammer geek from WAAAAYYYYyyy back. Table top and the Warhammer FRPG were part of my staple diet of shit to do when I was a kid (and I'm not gonna get into the Cthulhu and D&D and Cyberpunk and Star Wars and blahblahblah). Now with Warhammer online coming out my head was filled with the jelly bean and gumdrop type daydreams that come with such anticipation that only nostalgia and a long childhood full of good memories can provide.

Then came the day that I found out EA was going to back it up. MY GOD... what the fuck were they honestly thinking? I mean, being somewhat more financially minded in my later years, I was just waiting to hear that Blizzard had bought the gaming rights to Warhammer. I mean... that would have been really sweet right? Anyway... that didn't happen and I spent a few nights wondering if I was gonna get it or not.

Then the collector's edition went up sale and I just did it. I bought it. I bought it with the FULL knowledge that I would probably regret it. I mean... a company that treats it's own people the way that EA had treated them doesn't care about it customers by fiat. So yes I bought it, but giving them money made me feel dirty somehow. Anyway, it was done and it didn't take more than a day before I was visiting the Warhammer online website daily and another few days before I was just waiting for new shit to be posted.

Exactly 20 days before the game was released and live I changed my mailing address in my EA profile on their website because I had a new one and didn't want any goofy shit happening... so I changed it WAY in advance thinking to myself, Wow, I probably averted disaster there. You, know... I just wanted to start playing the damn game as soon as could. (I'm a huge WoW head. My guild had KJ on farm and I spend a LOT of time online... so my anticipation for this game was huge.)

The day the game was released I recieved an email from EA stating that the game was in the mail and I would receive it the next day or something... but there in the god damn delivery address part of the email had the old fucking address.

...

I mean honestly, are their IT people asleep? 20 days isn't enough lead time to get a change of address through their system?

So its been 11 days and I still don't have the game. 11 days since I posted a Customer Support question without any response as to when I will see my game. I have had 2 responses from EA in that question-thread. The first was an automated response and the second was a list of questions to which they already had all the answers in my customer profile and purchase order. Neither of those had any note as to when they would get back to me nor did they even hint at any kind of resolution.

I've posted 2 additional times since their second response and that was 7 days ago.

So this is why I am posting here on the Penny Arcade 'Advise' forums: Is there anyone that can help me get in contact with someone at EA? Has anyone else got any kind of information or advise for me in this situation? I mean... what do I do? They wont talk to me... there is no phone number to an actual person... its like fucking Fort Knox or something... like the real people in EA are so terrified or bored of all the complaints that they just got rid of all the phones or something.

:( I don't know what to do.

Shit gets sent to the mailing address you enter when you order it. Every online retailer does this. I thought it was common knowledge.

You should probably just pick up the phone and stop trying to fix it without talking to anyone, but I can almost guarantee they can't help you. Try heading over to the old address and seeing if the folks who live there now have it.

I wouldn't have got my pre-order codes if I didn't call - my google-fu isn't strong and I was able to find the numbers; have you tried?

They responded today actually saying that I should contact UPS. That's all they said.

So basically I'm out the 60 or 70 dollars for the collector's edition plus the half a month of game time... and lets face it FUN. They killed my fun... those bastards. At this point, if they don't send me the game I'm probably not gonna play it. This is really not what I signed up for... May be I'll send someone at Mythic my experience. They probably won't do anything either.

    EA is so evil

    for sending your shit

to the address you gave them.

Did it occur to you to have your mail forwarded when you moved?

Actually, i'm thinking that you're the one who messed it up. There's a registered billing address and a mailing address for your orders. They're seperate things. EA isn't in the bag for this one, man.

Apparently you didn't do this. You always do this when you move. It was sent to the address you ordered it to come to, and changing your profile address doesn't change that. You really should have called them. I'd imagine you're pretty well borked at this point.

I pinky swear that we will not screw you.

Well, this is the H/A forum. Now we've corrected you on your ways, informed you that you're in the wrong and not EA, and now you've learned a lesson. But, to the task at hand...

Go/call your old place of residence and notify the new owners of the mixup. Usually people are pretty nice about that sort of thing.

Call UPS and give them your tracking number and information, they should be able to redirect the package if the old address doesn't have it.

As far as I know, the post office address forwarding stuff wont apply to UPS, Fedex, etc.
