TV Show continutity supercedes video game continiutity in LucasArts' hirearchy of such things, yes?

Be careful what you wish for lest they shit all over something you love. :)

    So what is the hierarchy?
Movies - TV - Games - print media?
And even then, it only matters based on how popular/profitable it is/was?

Pretty sure games comes near the end of the list.
Movies, Adaptations of movies, TV Series, Printed media, games, whatever Lucas decides is no longer canon.

That's part of the reason Karen Traviss was so pissed, her continuous Mandalorian wankfest was rendered non-canonical when The Clone Wars showed the Mandalorians as a peaceful society.

Turns out that it wasn't a random Tarkin cameo, but that he was central to the plot! It was the start of the Tarkin-Vader "beautiful friendship".

I wish they'd done something more with Tarkin, the dude got put in charge of the Death Star and Vader respects him, it'd have been nice if he'd taken charge, or come up with some brilliant but morally suspect plan to get rid of their pursuers/break out or generally did more than follow the group around and complain a lot.

Not it was still largely random and pointless.

90% of his lines and anything dealing with him as anything except a background extra is bitching about how the Jedi let honor get in the way of victory or something. It's not dealt with in any meaningful way, just basically name dropping it to remind us that Anakin is falling to the dark siiiiiiiiiiide!

It does not leverage the rather complex and understated relationship between Vader and Tarkin in A New Hope to it's full potential. It barely scratches the surface.

That was my favorite thing about The Clone Wars series. It caused Karen Traviss to ragequit. Her Revelations book was egregiously bad.

This entire show is somewhat random and pointless. We already know the high points of the Star Wars timeline and they cannot be changed. And delving into the depths of the Tarkin-Vader relationship is as of yet unwarranted ( they JUST met) and beyond the scope of the cartoon series. I don't think 10-12 year olds would just get it anyway. Just like we didn't get the subtext when we were 10-12 years old.

I love everything Star Wars just as much as the next nerd, but I try not to expect much more than "Hey, that was fun!" from the show.

    1) It wouldn't be subtext, it would be the actual text.

    2) Like how the 10-12 year olds get all the weird sexual subtext between Obi-Wan and like half the recurring female characters? Or can really debate the philosophical issues in Weapons Factory/Brain Invaders?

    3) This show can and has done better.

Wierd sexual subtext? I don't see any wierd sexual subtext. Aside from the Mandalorian ex-girlfriend and some sort of twisted love/hate kinda thing from Ventriss.

On your third point, we can agree.
