The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
So I deleted some files about 6 months ago that weren't important at the time, and of course now I find out that I needed them, and they're nowhere to be found. I'm running XP pro, is there any way to really dig deep in a hard drive even though the recycle bin has been emptied, and the files are long gone?
Six months later, there is almost no hope of recovering deleted files. The less the HD was used and the more free space it's had improves your chances of the old files not having been overwritten.
I've used Avira's undelete program with good success, but the files had been deleted for less than a day.
There probably are Linux LiveCD distributions that could do the same thing, and BartPE has an undelete plugin as well.
depends how much file creation you do. It *is* possible, I've managed to recover files from that long ago using undelete stuff. takes ages and very hit and miss though.
