I am "exploring" my ipod touch (I don't know if I'm allowed to say why, so I won't). I am trying to locate the firmware but I cannot. Google is no help, as it says it is located in the C:\Users\your-user-name\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates\ folder for vista. However my problem is that I don't even have a "iPod Software Updates" folder on my computer. I have "view hidden files" enabled. How do I find this? I have one of the new ipod touches if that makes a difference. Any help would be appreciated.
If you're talking about jail breaking your iPod touch then you're probably going to want to download and have on your machine the firmware. You can get them if you google or search Apple directly.
I've only done it on a mac, but on the mac you are able to download the firmware directly through iTunes. I would imagine it's the same for the PC. The Touch is a pretty amazing piece of hardware and it's a lot of fun to customize the apps and displays, just avoid the no-no stuff.

If you're doing what I think you're doing, PM me, I've done my iPhone and have the latest firmware running without a hitch. So maybe I can be a help.
