Games with well-done snowy/alpine environments?

Hi folks,

What games, in your opinion, have really well-done snowy and/or mountainous areas? I'm talking more about in-game scenery, rather than gameplay. Personal favorites of mine include Dun Morogh and Hyjal in WoW and... crap, that's all I can think of for relatively recent games. Thoughts?

Huup... huup... BLEEEEEEHHHH!!!

Syberia is supposed to, but I never played it. Also, Penumbra: Overture starts in a snowy/mountainous area but it's over after about 2 minutes. If I think of any others, you'll be the first one to know.

halo 3 (and arguably halo 1) had some great moutain areas, some in snow.
also i remember the yeti mountain in mario64 being really atomospheric for some reason.

Odin Sphere, though the snowy areas might have been the weakest of the backgrounds in the game.

Yeah Metroid Prime's Phendrana Drifts was a great area. The music was so perfect too.

    YES and YES.

Not released yet, BUT...I think this game is going to do well in this department.

Monster Hunter Freedom 2's Mountain area is gosh darn purdy.

This is just a single section.

This shot (courtesy of Gamespy) is also from the same area.

Dungeon Siege's huge snowy expanse, ice caverns, and the town of Crystwind remain favorites as well. Unfortunately the overall game probably hasn't aged well enough for most players.

If you play far enough in Crysis, there's some extremely impressive snow environments.

Well there is Froslass, sort of a snow ghost princess that evolves from Snorunt. Also there is an Abominable Smowman Pokemon called Abomasnow.

An alpine environment was recently added to the PC version of TF2, but so far it's only used in one map.

I like the desolation you feel in the mountains of Guild Wars. The fact that wandering bands of minotaurs might just rape you through the pants makes your first trip (before you get the waypoints) seem to take forever, and every inch fills you with fear that you might not make it.
