Recently, I've been looking for a car to replace mine, which is quite frankly unsafe to drive at this point. I live in Michigan, so since Canada's right there and all, I decided maybe I could find one there. Now, I found a couple things, but my question is this:
If I was to buy a car from Canada, would I have to pay some sort of tariff or duty, or something? I have no idea about this kind of thing, as I've been to Canada like once. Also, are there different emissions regulations for Canadian cars? Would the car have to b qualified for US emissions? The car is American made, if that makes any difference. Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm not positive, but I think this is a bad idea. I'm in Michigan as well and was car shopping a few months ago and heard that frequently Canadians buy cars in the US because they're cheaper here, so I suspect you won't have much luck finding a good deal in Canada.
You'd probably get screwed with the sales tax when you tried to title and register your car in Michigan.
Yes. Same goes for buying a car in any foreign country or in another state. Generally, unless it's a steal on a used/classic car, it's very difficult to recoup the losses on transportation, titling, taxes, and -- since you're going to another country -- tarriffs.
