The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
So my current band is called Scarborough. Check the link at the bottom.
I say current and that's kinda silly. Me and my friend have been at the music scene for 6 years now, and have been in and out and in and out of bands...but have always remained together. Past incarnations have been:
Iscariot
Roman Holidy
Pre School Prostitutes
Saint Cloud
The Everlasting
Stoneblazed
We are going to continue our quest to becoming full time musicians, and feel that our current name just doesn't cut it. So i turn to the anonymous honesty of the PA H/A forum for either your ideas or thoughts on this name.

What do you hate, what do you love? Lemme have it!
The list of names were really lame and bad. You need something catchy, that will stick in someones mind immediately. Scarborough at least has the pleasure of sharing the name of an inner suburb in Toronto
One of the best band names I've ever heard came from my middle school teacher's band (both my middle school teachers were in rock bands...it was awesome). The band was: "Sorry About Dresden." Good stuff.
But yeah, the names you put up in that list seem a bit...pretentious? Most of them would turn me off a band before I even listened to it (I am horribly shallow). I'd stick with Scarborough. Maybe throw in some other random word to make it exciting but still remind people of suburbs and small towns. Scarborough Death Squad, would be pretty classy.
Whatever name a successful band uses. Seriously, apart from extremely bad names, no band was particularly hindered or helped by their name, any more than they were hindered or helped by their actual talent.
That said, one band name that came up at one point in The Writer's Block which most posters seemed to like was "Chevrolet Jackson". I will not claim credit for coming up with it (I didn't) but I'm feeling too lazy to check who it was that put it up first.
A friend and I had a running joke for about 3 weeks. We named our band after Asimov's "Robots of Dawn." Abbreviated to ROD. So, like, people would all be like, "I like ROD." or, "Dude, you just sat on my ROD!" etc. etc.
I dunno man. MUSE is a pretty wicked name. I think that a lot of people hear and and say "wow, why the fuck didn't I think of that?" at least that's what I do. I agree that name doesn't really mean much, but lets face it, if its the first thing you know about a band, it should be striking.
After that point, it all comes down to the music. But I digress.
Wow the more I look at those names the more angry they make me. Roman Holidy. FUCK! Sweet Jesus, just flip open a dictionary and choose some fucking words. Then get back to playing music and hopefully being less douchetastic while playing then picking band names. God damn it, I can picture the shitty looking Hot Topic Tee for every one of those names. FUCK.

This is what I thought.
R.O.T (robs one testicle)
but i guess it helps if you know rob.
Scarborough...I'm guessing you guys must be out in New England. Either way, Scarborough sounds memorable especially since I relate it to the city.
Just what sort of band is this?
I actually worked at work on Saturday. Also I went out on a date with a real life girl.
Can you like, permanently break the forums?
I can't say I'm a fan of either of the mentioned names.
I'm gonna have to tell him about what you guys think. We take critique well, so this thread will be considered.
Scarborough sounds the best out of what you listed.

@gamefacts - Totally and utterly true gaming facts on the regular!
But if you want to pick one of the names up there, I would pick The Now.
... But then when you became oldschool you'd be The Then.
Teehee.
I find this is actually a pretty good method of naming a band.

This should probably be metal.

make it happen
Or maybe stick with Scarborough. It's sufficient
The Scarborough Massacre sounds like a post-rock band to me.
Your username sounds like a post rock band. (Not knocking it, love your username)
Scarborough Massacre is all about blood and yelling.
Also Scarborough is a place and if you're not from there I don't know I think that's just kinda silly.
CUZ THERE'S SOMETHING IN THE MIDDLE AND IT'S GIVING ME A RASH
