New 360 won't read discs

I bought a 360 Arcade on Monday and over the next three days played Mass Effect for 12 hours (I was on fall break). Anyway, today I tried to put in Bioshock and it won't read the disc. In fact, it won't read any of my discs. I put them in and it says "Reading" on the dashboard and then it says "Open Tray" as if there were no disc at all. There are no error lights or anything.

I googled and found some articles from '07 and people were talking about hacked firmware and I haven't done any of that. What I want to know is... is this a common problem, even with the new (brand fucking new) consoles? Should I take it back to gamestop or do I have to ship it to Microsoft?

i dont even like matisyahu and i dont know why i picked this username

You have a 30 day limited warranty with GS, so take it there, I imagine it'll be easier for you.

Take it back to the store you got it from. If it's only been 3 days, they shouldn't have any problems replacing it.

This is definitely not a common problem with new units. Do like the others said and take it back.
