Can you do taxidermy without using real animals? Not like real animals, but for making really fake looking crazy things.

I don't really think that would be taxidermy then, but I imagine if you look up the people who create the creatures for horror movies, it would be a step in the right direction

Yes. It's generally called sculpture though. And I know for most people that means a big dude made out of marble, but there are plenty of materials and ways to do things. Try starting out by buying some super sculpey and some wires to use as a frame to sculpt on. It's a great way to start out. Cheap too.
