Upbeat electro pop

I'm not an expert when it comes to electronic music, so if electro pop is not what I'm looking for, let me know. Basically I'd like to get hold of some good music that's electronic, but upbeat and poppy, like the famous songs that Calvin Harris puts out (Acceptable In The 80s, All The Girls).

If it could embody some of the same "style" that Cobra Starship are all about, whilst being more electronic, that would be awesome.

    MSTRKRFT - Easy Love

    Justice - D.A.N.C.E.

Yelle - Je Veux Te Voir

Let me know if any of that stuff is up your alley, I can refine from there.

That video you posted sounds very... 'indie'?
I'm terrible with genres, too. Maybe some of this is more up your alley...

Hot Chip - And I was a Boy from School

MSTRKRFT were the closest to what I was looking for. I couldn't really explain what it was about Cobra Starship that I wanted before, but now that I've thought about it I like how the music sounds "naughty". If you get what I mean? Sassy.

So MSTRKRFT fit the bill in some ways because it felt mildly sassy. Although I'm not a huge fan of the heavily synthesised voices. Most of the other music that was posted didn't sound like that. It sounded more innocent.

OK. Capsule is pretty awesome. Not in the sassy sense, but I'm always open to new music. I stumbled upon this gem when I was listening to some of their stuff:

One of those Miranda! songs (El Profe) is quite naughty. He's saying he wants to be the professor of love/sex for one of the girls... talks about her touching herself while thinking of him and letting him bust a nut on her.

    That kind of naughty stuff.

This might all sound lame when I read it back in a minute, but whatever:

When I say "sassy" I'm going to go out on a limb and say "Latino". I don't mean Spanish music, but you know how some Spanish music elicits sassy or naughty behaviour? Imagine music that makes you want to strut down the street and pop your collar, but not because you're a douche. And then make it electronic, I guess.

Also, I prefer fun electronic music to serious electronic music. The video I posted earlier of the Daft Punk/Capsule/Beastie Boys song is "fun", whereas a lot of the electronic music posted here, whilst good (edIT is awesome) is "serious". I hope some of you understand what I'm getting at.

Some good stuff here. If you like MSTRKRFT, check out Boyz Noise. SebastiAn is my favorite though, he just does whatever the fuck he wants.

Digitalism is good. So is Surkin, Bag Raiders, SymbolOne, Etienne De Crécy. For more house-ish music, go for Fred Falke.

Dude I don't look at any of it as serious. You have to listen to the albums not the single song. White Williams, Midnight Juggernauts and Dan Deacon are all pretty upbeat funky shit. You can't just eliminate an artist based on one song. LCD is pretty funky stuff generally. But not every song is crazy Daft Punk/Justice. It's like expecting every Spielberg movie to have Dinosaurs just cause Jurassic Park was the first one you saw.

Otherwise go listen to old school synthpop shit like
    Thompson Twins
    Thomas Dolby
    Human League
    Depeche Mode
    New Order

Oh, I hear you. The problem is when, say, 10 artists are suggested, listening to multiple songs from each album is a lot harder to pull off than just finding 10 songs on Youtube and getting a feel for the group. Granted, single songs aren't going to give me a full impression, but since there have been a lot of recommendations it'd be a serious undertaking to completely evaluate each one before moving on.

Well yeah but instead of saying none of the bands match perfectly what you want based on one song, you need to go listen to more than 1 song before you can definitively state that the bands don't make sense. I mean if you don't like it at all sure, but if its just not the right mood or not up beat enogh thats not enough to completely discount the suggested artist.

Big Beat? I don't even know what that means but I was actually referring them based on Centipeed's definition of sassy ;-)
