Ok, here's the tale.
July, g/f and I move into an apartment. Split rent/utilities/fees, etc by two. Everything is peachy. Come October, my friend B tells me his housing arrangement fell through. Looking for a situation fast, since apartment lease ends in October for him.
I suggest to g/f, she's cool, but since we have a 2 bedroom already, we need to move into a 3 bedroom. Talk to apartments. $250 fee to transfer. $50 app fee for B. No app fee/deposit needed for us since it rolls from our current apartment to the new one. We're moving mid month, so our rent from the beginning of the month will be returned to us via corporate check.
Here's the thing. When we set everything up, we were originally going to be credited back the $400 into the new apartment's rent. I prefer this. It's simple. We go in to turn in the apps and pay money today and the rep (different this time) says that since it is a new apartment, the only thing that can carry over are deposits (pet, apartment, etc). Well...crap.
My g/f and I went from having to pay $121 to $322 - Brandon pays the same as he always did. WTF.
So here's the dollar breakdown.
Original rent for Oct 15-31st for new apartment $714.
Credit for me and g/f from current apartment $402.
New rent listed on concessions page $312
Everything was going to be split 3 ways, so we thought it was a great deal. Now, we're paying close to $1000 instead of $600. What should I do to get this taken care of?
