    You know, I always wondered why the es could be removed from that sentence. That's how I initially learned it (me llamo es Cloudman) but eventually my later teachers switched it over to the other version.

    well both are correct, it's just that leaving "es" out is almost always how a native speaker would say it

    just like someone learning english may be taught to say, "no, thank you" but as a native english speaker I'm more likely to simply say, "no thanks"


    Actually, it's because "me llamo _____" does not literally mean "My name is _____." It means 'I call myself _____".

    "My name is" would be directly translated as 'Mi nombre es".
