probably because it's basically what nerds would say to me every time a game was set to be released
some nerd would always come in and give me some derivative of "i know you have it here, she devil. I can smell it on you" no nerdy friends, the smell is just body odor, you're smelling the dude standing in line behind you, it's unfortunate that you've begun to associate that smell with everquest expansion releases.
Afterwards he asked what school I studied under. After some confusion I had to admit that I do not know any martial arts. The guy actually thought he was sparring against a formidable opponent the entire time. Whoever his sensei was should have been wracked with shame.
I "won" the fight but that dude is married to that girl now. Ah well.

it's probably largely due to the reviewers. if people didn't feel a need for reviewers, they wouldn't see movies/read books/play games months before others
and honestly if reviewers were out of the picture the companies would make more money, but no reviewers would also lead to shoddier products, i think

Well... I only did it once for Halo 2 and that was to get back at the little shit who kept coming by my room to annoy my roommate and I with his lies about his uncle who got him things like early-releases of games that aren't even finished being made yet. He was like a 6-year-old on the playground about that.
Well for a solid 3 weeks he thought my roomie and I had an advance copy of Halo 2 sitting on our shelf but he wasn't allowed to play it because it wasn't cleared yet for public use. We were just beta testers.
edit: This reminds me of when I tried to buy Pokemon: Diamond the weekend after it was released. The guy at the GameStop told me to come back that weekend for their huge blowout event where they were launching XBox360 elites and a few games I didn't give a shit about all on the same day (instead of the actual street dates which had already come).
I just went next-door to Target and got it there. I flashed it to the guy behind the counter on my way past the GameStop and he just looked sheepish and shrugged.
I mean is it much more than a physics toy?
