I have what appears to be a popped blood vessel on the shaft of my penis. It is a purple colored splotch that is about the size of a pupil in someone's eye.
I was wondering if it is something that heals on its own or if I should go to a doctor about it. It doesn't hurt, I think it MAY be affecting my ability to maintain an erection for obvious reasons (blood flow), but there isn't any info on google about this aside from a 14 year old worrying about it and some random guy that didn't get a response.
So while the obvious answer is "see a doctor," I just noticed it tonight. In the meantime, my girlfriend and I will be laughing about how I have posted this on the forums. Thanks all.
I think that if you think it MAY be affecting your ability to maintain an erection, you're probably psyching yourself out. I bet it will be gone in a few days, at most a week, and once you stop thinking and worrying about it, your virility will be restored. What you are describing sounds like a small hematoma, which isn't a big deal. The 1000's of guys who have caught their willy in their zipper can attest to that.
If there is pain (which I'm guessing there's not or you would have mentioned) I'd get to a urologist.
And honestly Jim, you could have posted this under your own account.
Ahahhahahaha.
Also, if it's just a popped blood vessel, then you should be fine. The closer it is to the dermis, the better off you'll be, but really, it's just a bruise.
