Ok so I've picked the game up and am trying to get my villain on, and I'm having some trouble right off the bat. I can't seem to keep those pesky agents out of my base! I have wind traps and poison traps at my disposal currently (first island). So any pointers? I love this game to death, but its frustrating having to tag the buggers everytime they land. Anyway I can make my lackies a bit more bloodthirsty and have them shoot people on sight?

Also...money. For some reason my operatives keep getting killed in the field. Any ideas as to raise more funds toward my quest for evil?

Valet type minions and sending them to...demoralize? Whatever the term the game gave for it, sending them to handle agents is pretty much the very best thing. About 20 Valets, all cluster around your main entrance giving agents the run around while all the important doors have clearance requirements and you're good.

Is there any way to post them? I know I can change the security clearence to me only with guards posted, but no ones going over there.

Check out Evil Planet. Seeing this thread really takes me back, I used to play this game obsessively. Besides traps, my solution to distracting agents was creating a false entrance to my base with long winding corridors and lots of doors (level 3) all the way. At the end I'd have an armoury with a door set to level 4, meaning that as soon as agents broke through they'd be automatically tagged for capture and promptly subdued by minions who were guarding the door. I also used military time clocks (it's a mod so that only military minions staff the armoury) to ensure I always had a force of offensive lackies ready to respond to any alarms. Check out the site for a lot of handy trap combinations and mods, I think they may have even made a social timeclock, which would solve your social minion posting problem.

Send your henchman against the random agents (but look out for the super agents!), I would recommend the ninja (Jubei?) for this, since he can teleport around the island.

As for money, In my opinion the game is a lot more fun if you just cheat for it and use your minions for the other evil deeds, otherwise send lots of guards as they don't really matter if they die and give you good money.

If you hold left ctrl while tagging agents, it will auto-tag the entire group - saves time. Also, don't bother trying to kill everything on your island - I generally only kill the pricks if they find something incriminating.

If you want your minions to be bloodthirsty, hit the red alert button at the bottom right. They will arm themselves, then hunt down and murder any and all agents on your island. You will need a lot of storage space in your freezer for this approach though.

In the field, when your minions are stealing/plotting/committing acts of infamy - enemy agents will appear every 15 minutes or so. At this time, you need to make your minions hide or they run a good chance of dieing. You will only be able to see the enemy agents on the world map if you have enough manned control panels operating.

I wouldn't recommend putting it on red 24/7 as it lessens minion productivity, however putting it on yellow to make them arm themselves actually is smart since they will always run! Oh and if you double click the alarm button it will turn off the annoying sound!

Yes, the red alert is a last resort, temporary thing. I don't think it's possible to have a functioning base under red alert conditions.

Yellow alert is not overly advisable either as visibly armed minions will be attacked on site by most agents. It is best used when expecting a large agent attack, and not all the time (unless you don't mind having tons of corpses around your base).

Do any of you guys use the hotel set up? I'm curious if that keeps those pesky tourists away from my base effectively, or if I should just keep killing them and hiding the bodies.

The hotel is useless as it keeps your valuable valets occupied, costs lots of money and attracts even more tourists!

Ah, hide the bodies then. Oh and sad note about Evil Planet, most of the mods they had went down when their main host went down, and no one has rehosted them. Any idea where i can find some new mods?

The main way you want to deal with agents coming to the base is to get them to leave without finding anything. If they return to their base saying "Sorry boss, it is just an island. While they make a fantastic Rum Cannonball there is nothing evil going on". Getting them to leave without a report also lowers your heat, so agents arrive less frequently.

Your best bet is lots of valets to confuse and distract the guards. Once their stats get lowered enough the valets will actually escort them outside your base.

Also, pick up Lord Kane (The british looking guy) as a minion. One of his powers actually convinces the agents to go home. Be sure to use this power on the leader of the agents (usually the man in front) and the entire team will just pack up and leave.

If I remember correctly the previous Evil Genius thread (it was made like a week ago) had some hints on how to build your base, in a way that agents get confused.

The best way to keep agents out of your base is to put up sets of 2 doors at each entrance. Put security on them so only your minions can go through (2 dots?) and a security camera (don't forget a security post in your armory). Keep an eye on your minimap and tag intruders when they arrive at the first door. Once they try to break into your base the camera will pick them up and alarms will send minions to kill them. If you have a freezer they will automatically carry the bodies to it. No problems.

I say 2 doors because generally they will get through 1 by the time your minions arrive, and if the door closes behind them they are more easily trapped than if you let them run away and bring more heat down on you.

I never did finish this game. I got the second island and was amassing materials for my rocket when I was doing the mission to impersonate diplomats and one of the diplomats I kidnapped disappeared after I impersonated him, but then it never gave me the mission complete or displayed the mission so I could do it again, so I got stuck.

I do love Jubei. I hate the Russian. He caused more collateral damage than he was worth.

Plus it leads to all sorts of headaches when a super agent decides it looks shady and bombs the damn place while it's full of tourists. Those guys tend to be a bit psychopathic.

Don't you get lots of money from tourists though from the Hotel? Or it just keeps them from accidentally wandering into your base (in theory - not practice).

I miss this game. My play CD got scratched up like CRAZY somehow so I have to nocd patch it in order to play now, which then causes it to freeze up sometimes when it's supposed to play a video or something off the cd.

I don't believe you get any revenue from the hotel - it just keeps tourists entertained. Which is pretty pointless since tourists don't have a significant effect on your heat.

Well that depends on if they see the squad of 8 marines get gunned down by a net of 4-8 disguised turrets that once they reveal themselves, it's too late to run. :D
