I'm guessing it's the hard drive but these bump aren't really that big of a deal, I don't recall this ever happening before (I've had it for a year) but I can't recall bumps like these before either.
Generally happens when it's on and I put it down on a granite top or my desk without being too careful.
Is this just a user error or is this thing getting ready to crap out on me?
It's probably some loose connection somewhere. My laptop did the same thing for a while and then just wouldn't turn on after I had bumped it for like the 10th time or so. Since it's a laptop I'd reccomend getting it checked. Not being able to move a device that you bought for mobility really, really sucks.
I was able to get mine repaired under warranty luckily.
Beated. Sometimes one of the anchors isn't snapped tight and she'll jar loose when you set it down to hard. reset the battery, and see if it still happens.
Sounds like a rush job at the repair depot. If you had sent it away it probably went to some mass repair out-sourcer.
Reformat or try a different hard drive, re-seat all user-removable parts (RAM, Mini-PCI card, HDD, battery, etc) and call your OEM's support line, it might be easier to do all this on the phone. The only reason I suggest this is to satisfy the support tech's T/S requirements so it just goes smoothly. After that it should be ready to go for another depot repair.
Oh, also, to rule out battery, does the issue happen when it's plugged in to just AC power?

Do not feel trapped by the need to achieve anything, this way you achieve everything.
Oh, hey I'm making a game! Check it out: Dr. Weirdo!
I checked it with the AC power just now and LIGHTLYYYYYY bumped it with my cellphone, kind of let it fall on the left side of the palm rest, only from about a inch above so this is definitely a hardware error.
I actually had the laptop repaired in house, actually once it was installed and the guy started it the thing didnt start at all so he ordered a replacement, which came but I accidentally turned on my old one(this one) when I had them side by side and it ended up turning on so I kept it and returned the replacement.
Guess it's time to call again. I really love dell products but my god their replacement parts suck ass. (this was the 4th mobo replacement)

Do they have an escalation policy? 4 replacements is pretty bad.

In school, they gave me a free laptop. Literally any movement- at all- caused it to restart. If my roommate played loud, bassy music, my laptop restarted. I couldn't use it on my lap or anything. It had to be on a completely flat and stable surface.

They gave me a new hard drive and it worked fine.
