The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
This looks like a hell of a lot more than a port of the PC version. Eternal was completely sprite based and looked like a high colour version of a SNES game. This seems to have 3d environments and a revamped combat system (now with an attack button!).
When was the last time Falcom made an original game? Apparently their entire business strategy is to remake this game over and over again until people start buying it again. People aren't still buying this, right?
There's quite a few. Not least of which is the graphical improvements. Here's an article with an in depth descriptions of all the Ys games. http://hg101.classicgaming.gamespy.com/ys/ys.htm
This looks to be a port of the Eternal PC versions which had a compiled release titled Complete.

True it does have the Napishtim and Felghana type feel.
As to the second, the last new title I can remember is Xanadu Next on PC and N-Gage.

The most important addition was the ability to move diagonally, thereby turning it into a video game, as opposed to a bizarre Japanese torture device.
So wasn't this on the TG16? When I was a kid I heard so much about this game but could never play it because no one in their right mind spent that much on a game console.
Yes. Though this version has the improvements from the PC remakes as well as the most recent games in the series, ie Napishtim, Felghana, and Origin. With 3D rendered backgrounds, better character art, and improved gameplay mechanics.

I'll probably look into this. The only Y's game I've ever played, though, is the one for the Genesis (Y's 3: Return to Y's). I remember the music being metal, pretty much. Like Dragonforce sounding kind of stuff.
It's really "Secret of Monna" and not "Secret of Mana"?
Just a heads up, buddy.
...and I can't find the comic. Even with Pennypacker.
Ha! I tried the same thing.

O man, I would so buy this if I hadnt bought the VC version already. Having a map would be really useful in the bigger dungeons of the game.
Besides YS Book I-II , YS III and Ark of Naphisthim, is they're any other Ys games avaible in english in North America?

Those were the only ones released in America. Oath In Felgana got fan translated, so you'd have to buy the Japanese version online. Supposedly Ys Origin is getting one too, but I haven't heard anything on it for a while.
This is NOT a port of Ys book I & II eternal (which does NOT look like a "snes game" as someone ignorantly claimed... it uses 32-bit color) but a really shitty remake.
Really shitty.
Really shitty. As in, "get rid of the voice actors and completely change the game mechanics" shitty. This game plays NOTHING like the Ys book I & II unless you use the touch screen controls, which are half a dick shy of an ass fucking.
Well if they are fucking this port up, shame on them. I mean come on people its your job lets not phone it in.
But when I saw the thread title I wanted to come in here and say "you know a game being old doesn't mean its still fun to play, most of the time it means exactly the opposite" but I don't know if its worth having that conversation in light of the fiasco.

Though, I would say mana and not monna too.
At the 1:37 mark.

I still think the second screen is superfluous, though.
As far as Mana, I could have SWORN there was a penny arcade comic about it, and now I can't find it.

If so, the controls and hit detection suck balls.
Wasn't that a standard feature of Ys 6 and 7 as well?

They could do something other than Ys Strategy.
