Overclocking for dummies

So, I was curious exactly whats the process is to OC a processor. I know this is moderate to heavy computer tech knowledge kinda stuff. I'm no super nerd but i know my way around the equipment a bit. What I lack is how you start, getting from point A to B, as it were.

Is it possible from an enthusiasts standpoint like me or only for the old pros with multiple systems in pieces that are building custom PC parts.

You might want to check Frostytech for a list of heatsinks (and reviews thereof). The Anandtech article linked by that overclocking guide is old enough to exclude two excellent heatsinks that outperform most of the competition at a lower price: the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 and the Sunbeam Core Contact Freezer.
