Hiya,

I need to setup Remote Desktop on my mom's computer so when I go back to where I live, I can connect to her computer when needed and "fix things". My problem is, my ADSL modem and router are seperate... so I figure I need to do play with settings on both. Anyone wanna help me through this?

Thanks.

Modem is Airties, router is Linksys.

:)

Windows remote desktop uses UDP port 3889. It would be easiest to give her computer a static IP address and setup the port forwarding through the router pointing to that static IP. Also set up an easy way for her to find out her external IP so you can connect easier.

Hmmm that looks sweet. There seems to be a free version, or is that a 30 day trial thing? :?:

Free. Been using it for ever on my parents computers. Saves a lot of configuration hassle. Just load it up on their PC and enjoy.

Another option as a backup is ultraVNC, which is also free.
