Absolutely stunning film, gripping and real. Feels like the blade runner of our generation if you catch my drift. Anyway, visually Its almost exactly how I'd want a Halflife film to look like, a kind of panoramic landscape of desolation, strewn rubbish and rubble, and vivid firefights. Discuss (also I believe this isnt actually out in America, comes out in December sometime for some reason, Brits and Aussies discuss).
Should have put it in the first post sorry. Anyway its set in 2027 in London, humanity is sterile and Britain is the only place not completely fucked, so refugees and despair. Its like a sci-fi I guess, but its so much more than it's concept, like its not a one trick poney, keep an eye out for it.
I totally can appreciate that, but he really is fantastic in this, like he basically puts his past 5 films completely behind him with this. Critics are pretty unanimous with their praise of his performance, he really works in the film.
Edit: posted the two website links in the first post, you can see where I draw my halflife comparisons with some of the art and shots from the film.
Yeah thats exactly what I thought, the last act is for lack of a less corny expression, breathtaking. Sucks that some marketing douche has decided to delay the american release, guess it makes sense with your holiday seasons though. The last 10-15 minutes have that saving private ryan impact, where your seeing something visually thats completely new and stellar. But overall the camera work and general cinematography is completely engaging and fresh, never has widescreen been used to such effect, I saw it twice in two days, taking all my friends the second time, we cant stop talking about it, especially the film students.
I saw an ad for this in the cinema a while ago and it used Hoppipola by Sigur Ros so it definatley gets points for good music. It also looked appealing to my sort of taste from the ad but I don't think any of my friends would enjoy it so I'm passing on it.
Children of Men is a fantastic film, I saw it a few weeks ago. The story is pretty harsh at times but it manages to stay witty throughout, and the special effects are subtly fantastic.
Yeah, Tube, while it is your opinion and can't technically be right or wrong, you are wrong on this. He is widely considered in the media and by critics to be an excellent actor whos career is taking off rapidly.
If you judge him purely on his early work then yeah, he isn't exactly impressive, but thats really why his career is going up, he is improving as an actor with every role.

Do you even realise how many different ways that post is stupid?

You have made a biased opinion of an actor based upon an incomplete viewing of his work. You said you havent seen Inside Man which is one of his best roles.
I made the distinction that you have made an opinion, but have also reiterated that perhaps it is not the most informed opinion, because of the above reason.
And by early work, I mean roles in Britain, made for TV and small time films like 10 years ago. Since then he has improved vastly, and has garned recognition from the media and film critics that purport him to be an actor of considerable skill, contrasting with your opinion that he is an awful actor whos very presence in a film puts you off watching it.
I was merely tryong to show you that you are perhaps missing out on the work of a fine actor by dismissing him and avoiding films he is in because of your misinformed opinion of him as an actor.

Y'all seriously can't see how stupid this is? Seriously?
I never said Children of Men was bad, I said Clive Owen is a horrible, horrible actor.

The third act of this film rivals such greats as Saving Private Ryan for warzone action.
I don't know if it is available in Sweden yet though.
You take it back!
You take it back, or I'll tell you to take it back AGAIN!
I haven't seen Inside Man, but I have seen him in a bunch of stuff where he licked choad. That film about nailing his sister? Jesus...
Gosford Park, it was totally rad, and he ruled in it.

The code is an older one, but it checks out.
I was about to clear them.
Shall I hold them, my Lord?
