Banned from the EA forums? Be prepared to lose access to ALL your PC games.

Guess what. If you get banned from the EA forums, ALL of your EA published games ever GET LOCKED. You can’t access them. Apparently, not only do they ban you from the forums, but they ban you from accessing the games you PAID for.

What if some moderator goes off on a power trip? Does he seriously have the right to block access to software you legally purchased?

Check out the third post from “eaapoc”:

“Well, its actually going to be a bit nastier for those who get banned.

Your forum account will be directly tied to your Master EA Account, so if we ban you on the forums, you would be banned from the game as well since the login process is the same. And you'd actually be banned from your other EA games as well since its all tied to your account. So if you have SPORE and Red Alert 3 and you get yourself banned on our forums or in-game, well, your SPORE account would be banned to. It's all one in the same, so I strongly reccommend people play nice and act mature.

All in all, we expect people to come on here and abide by our ToS. We hate banning people, it makes our lives a lot tougher, but its what we have to do.

Those banned will stay banned, but like most other internet services, its not that hard to create a new fake e-mail account. However, its a lot harder to get a new serial key =)

Avatars should be back within 2 weeks of the launch.

This is just for online though. Besides, why would anybody go to the EA forums other than to ask for help for some technical problem?

Edit: Being banned in one game banning you in all the other games is bullshit though.

How does banning in most EA games work? Getting banned temporarily for offensive material in spore is pretty easy.

The tone of that is incredibly rude and dickish. Especially the bolded part. "Yeah, it sucks, but it sucks more for you!"

Well, the truth is, I don't even feel this is that "evil".

There's very little reason to be on the EA Forums in the first place, and if there is something you need from there then it's probably your own damn fault if you act like such a cock that you get banned while asking for technical support or something.

I just wanted to use the phrase "pro EA cock to gamer rectum".

Well yeah, but see, here's how I'm seeing it.

On the one hand, I think EA is really ballsy (in a "hey that's cool" way) for being a company not afraid to say, "We don't care to do or lose business with bad customers." When I hear some stories from retail hell where a manager finally makes this stance, I cheer them on because some people ARE bad customers.

THE PROBLEM however, which does make EA the bad guy here (evil as it were) is their definition of 'bad customer.' My understanding is that forum is tightly moderated like a bitch.

I'm kinda curious how they would ban/lock games that you don't sign in for. Games that are offline only.

Or do those no longer exist in EA's world? Hang on, Dead Space is a recent one.

On the one hand, kinda harsh and might be bad publicity. On the other hand, if you're being that much of a problem on a forum, I'm going to guess that you'll be like that in Battlefield Bad Company's online...and frankly, if you are like that, I don't want to play around you. At all.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out, at the very least.

This is only tangentially related, I guess, but I just got an email from EA telling me my account has been suspended for 7 due to terms of use violation in Spore. Yeah, I named one of my ships "FUCK OFF". Obviously that wasn't a great idea, but the game was pissing me off at the time.

The reason it's worth posting is that I created the thing on September 9th. And I uninstalled Spore like 3 weeks ago.

I think you get banned from online games for griefing, and possibly your Steam games altogether for trying to do something like run a scam or cheat the system, but I don't think they do that for simply trolling the forums.

It might be slightly different. I know that when my Steam account was locked because of tampering I was blocked from the forums. Perhaps it is just help and support.

Either way, get your steam account banned for one game and all of them are locked.

People acting like this is some abhorrent injustice need to stop posting on the fucking EA forums and stop being so stupid to get banned there.

The help and support system for the steam forums allows you to use your steam account to expedite the process. I assume you can use your steam account for the rest of the forums as a login. in fact, with the steam community I would guess that is the case. either way, I'll go find out.
