New HDD/Enclosure/Router/C-c-c-combo breaker

So I think I might get a new laptop HDD, since mine is 5400 and 80GB. I still want to save the old one, so I'm thinking of getting an external enclosure.

Possible HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136279
Possible enclosure for old HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817816001

Any thoughts?

And while I'm at it, possible wireless router to go with my new cable connection at my new apartment: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833156038

It's $14.99, and has good reviews. Should I be wary because it's $14.99, and just get a Linksys like everyone else?

When my hard drive filled, I ordered a new one off of amazon. This 320GB one may get you more bang for a cheaper buck. Mine was $82 when I bought it. So it's gotten even cheaper.

    That's slower, though.

Are you planning on copying massive amounts of files or large files between HDDs? If not, probably a negligible hit.

Eh, I actually do quite often. Plus, that kind of speeds up load times in some games, right?

Yes, I would highly recommend not keeping games on them. But yeah, if you do large files definitely go with the faster one.

What do you mean highly recommend not keeping games on them? I'm not supposed to install anything on the HDD I want to put in my laptop?

I want to install the new, larger one inside the computer, and put the old, smaller one in the external.

I had lots of problems using my external HDD for installing games for some reason. But this was back about 4 years so it may no longer be the case. Their best use is data storage and not application storage.

    This isn't an external HDD.

I'm putting it inside the laptop.

As in, this will be my primary HDD with windows and everything installed on it. The old one will just be used for backup storage in the external bay.

Well, carry on then. Always go for the faster RPM as long as it's not going in an external unit.
