Are you planning on copying massive amounts of files or large files between HDDs? If not, probably a negligible hit.
Eh, I actually do quite often. Plus, that kind of speeds up load times in some games, right?
Yes, I would highly recommend not keeping games on them. But yeah, if you do large files definitely go with the faster one.

I want to install the new, larger one inside the computer, and put the old, smaller one in the external.
This isn't an external HDD.
I'm putting it inside the laptop.
As in, this will be my primary HDD with windows and everything installed on it. The old one will just be used for backup storage in the external bay.
Well, carry on then. Always go for the faster RPM as long as it's not going in an external unit.
