I am applying for a new job at Apple because I know so many people that work there and my friend already talked to the store manager about me but I still have to make a resume so I would like to know what I should change or add or any other ideas. Much appreciated.

Here is what I have, I have the formatting and everything but I figured it might be easier to just paste it here:

SUMMARY Keynote, Numbers, Pages experience, Leopard experience, iPod & iPhone experience, Six years retail experience, quick learner

EDUCATION Mehlville Senior High - 1999-2003

St. Louis Community College - Meramec - 2003-2007

Well... um... off-hand, I have no fucking clue what you did at Target, and I read the thing like, five times. You need some serious elaboration there.

    Spice it up a little.

"Helped guests find what they were looking for and answered questions about products" could be

"Knowledgable in a variety of electronic products and services, as well as customer service."

"Set up all the new signing" could be

"Experienced in presentation of advertised merchandise, and signing of sale priced product."

Basically, find a way to make the menial stuff convey the most of what you were doing, and sound real good at it.

Also, for the school history, add more specifics.

"University of Missouri - St. Louis - 2008-Current"

Could be "Currently attending the University of Missouri, majoring in []". Give the reader reasons why your education is relevant to their interests.

A resume is a summary of your work experience. Including a summary section is basically saying "here's a summary of my summary".

If your resume needs a summary sections, it's either 1) too long, or 2) not obvious what you've done (and therefore poorly written).

In case you can't tell, I have very strong feelings on the idea of a 'summary' section. It wastes space on your resume.

MS Word has some pretty neat resume templates with some fields that you could use to sell yourself better. My resume, for example, has a section called Extracurricular in which I write activities or competitions I've won (all relevant to my field, nothing like Hotdog eating champion 2005). Languages where I list the languages I can speak, write and translate. Skills, job relevant skills that I've gathered through life.

I'd add some sections like those... show off a little, say "I'm a good team player, I'm responsible and punctual. I was responsible for X amount of dollars in sales, I speak Spanish... or what ever you think might help you get a foot in the door.

you also want to flush out your Jarman Shoe's experience. I mean, if the only thing you did was get left in charge on occasion, that seems like a really cushy job.

Just generally, you need to go into more detail with what your jobs involved. What does "running" the electronics department mean? How many employees did you supervise? Did you manage the work schedules? Conduct employee reviews? You need to go into that sort of detail for everything. Be concise, but also provide a description of what you actually did.

Take some time and read through this site. Especially this page. You won't regret it.
