Import PSP Question

I'm considering buying an import PSP but I have one question I can't find answered anywhere online: Can you change the interface language, the XMB display language, to English even if it's originally a Japanese PSP?

Also, does homebrew firmware generally work the same on import PSPs as it does the US version?
Anything else I need to be wary of buying an import PSP? I've read that PSP games region free, and I am planning to buy the system new.

Is that PSP-3000 screen flaw as bad as it looks with the sideways pixels and the interlacing? I'm considering picking up the PSP-2000 because of it.

Why do you want to import a PSP. The 2000 models don't have region locking on games to begin with. I have a US PSP and play all my games I've bought in Japan on it.

Yeah you can change the language to English, though again I don't understand why you want to import one unless I guess its a Japan exclusive model.

All my PSP game cases have the Region 1 mark on them, I have no idea if the games are actually region specific, but they are labelled that way.

Yeah all PSPs are region-free. The screen issue is different to the one on the 2000/1000, but IMO the one on the 3000 is more noticeable. To be honest, neither are dealbreakers.

You can change the language for sure. If you can't figure it out when you get it then just post again and we'll be able to supply keypresses.

i wouldn't get a PSP-3000 just yet if you're interested in modding/home brew.... the new mobo is proving to be difficult to hack and IMHO using emulators on the PSP is one of the greatest advantages of the device
