/thread in two replies, hahahaha
Satans..... hints.....
Chinese chess is even more awesome though
they have a piece called the cannon, which moves kinda like a king at first but then if it has any other pieces in front of its line of fire it can hop over it however far it wants and take a piece just like that
it is a scary piece because you tend to forget about it
That sounds like so much bullshit;
"Hey, where the hell did that come from?"
"Oh, this, this piece can go forward as far as it wants to take pieces."
"What the hell? I just tried to move that and you said it could only move one space at a time."
"...I meant if there's something in front of it first..."
In conclusion,
Chinese people cheat.
I took out vader with R2-D2 once in that game, it was one of the best video game experiences I've ever had
hahaha
I don't know if Chinese people know this, but cannons can't fly...
Tell me about it, man
Once I took out Vader with Luke, resulting in a totally epic lightsaber fight
It was awesome

HEY LOOK IT WASN'T ALL THAT FUNNY
(seriously)
(I give it a D-, see me after class)
Dare I say...
pwn't
Don't bring in dumb shit like "the cannon" Jesus fucking Christ get that shit out of my face.
When I get home I'll look at some boobs on it.
That will restore my faith in the system.
Satans..... hints.....
how glorious.
At least in regular chess.
that's
uhh
i don't think you can even do that
So it would seem. Although I've never really learned why.
Don't let the rules keep you from your dreams!
ask yourself this
how would you get your king next to theirs, or theirs next to yours?
(you can't, it's an illegal move to put your king into harms way like that)
I love being able to look through someone's infractions and see how fucking stupid they are
But you wouldn't have to move it into attack range, you'd just have to set it up so the other guy can't move his King without moving it into attack range.
oh my friend taught me how to play that, Cannon'd the shit out of him, still lost every game, but fuck him stalemates mean I win if I just learned how to play.
You can't move into check. The only way for you to check-mate with a king is by moving it into check by your opponents king. Your king can threaten squares to deny your opponent routes of escape, but there's no legal way to move it so it's threatening your opponents king directly.
captain save a hoe.
I mean we are talking convenience
Hell, Chess was how I put up with the rest of the idiots in my bio class. Kieran and I played chess once we had got the gist of the lesson, and the teacher didn't give a shit because we were quiet and passed the tests, unlike the rest of the dipshits who took it because it was 'the easy science'.
For some reason I thought that if the king was the only piece the opponent had left, and you moved your own king into a position that prevented the opponent from moving, that would suffice. But Battle Chess would always tell me stalemate, which never made sense to me.
who?
That is a Chinese chessboard.
The corner pieces (with the character for "car" on them) move like rooks. One in from those are pieces with the word for horse on them, and they move just like knights. Next in is the elephant, which move diagonally, but only in 2x2s. In some more are the "guard" pieces, which can only move along the diagonal lines of the "castle" (which is the 2x2 square box with the diagonal lines in it). The middle piece is the general, who can only move within the castle.
Up front (on line 7) are the cannons. In front of those are pawn-like pieces ("soldiers"), which move only forward and have to capture enemy pieces by moving horizontally.
