Whose played quarterback in tackle football, at any level? Can you tell me what its like? What are important qualities to have? Any tips and tricks? Training pointers?

Many thanks

Think of the most intense moment you've ever had in your life.

It's like that, almost every play. You are the linchpin (mostly), more so if you're passing a lot. It takes a quick mind and quick body.

That being said, its oh SO amazing completing a nice pass downfield.

Just give it a try. Have your team try to rush in on you and see if you can pick out your receivers. Using route you've memorized helps as you'll know where/when to look after a few runs through it.

Overdramatic post? perhaps, but you get the point I think!

From what I've played, thats exactly what its like. I really do like it. Any tricks for getting balls over the line and under the secondary? As far as getting that "curve"? I really like doing it but I'm looking for ways to improve.

I assume you've meaning 5-10 yard short passes yes?

If you've got a ringer (or someone just really fast/athletic) you could use them every few series of plays to bring some of the secondary downfield with him (run him off, a hail mary route, so to speak) and have others stay short.

I'm a big fan of short screens, especially in flag football. Have 3 receivers stack on one side, with a running back to your right. Play starts, receivers move forward and back takes the pass behind them. Sometimes works, sometimes not.

In general most amateur players (myself included) tend to overpersue. Use that to your advantage. You'll get a feel from your receivers on who is open and when, that kind of thing.

Flag football you need to be able to run. Short passes are really what it comes down to also.

Also, i just want to again stress the importance of being able to run.

Run on hike. The only play that most amateur type QBs need to know. :)

Seriously though. Multitasking and situational awareness are foundation skills. Later the things like eye fakes, arm fakes etc etc come into play.

I never played QB. Played Cornerback in highschool though.
