This game is looking good, I know the whole point is to have a Prinny as the main character, but I can't help but hope they have others unlockable too.
I didn't even use my healers at all after a certain point; I just relied on heavy grinding and sound level strategy.
It's kind of ridiculous that my healer can't hit my ninja with a heal spell.
Oh god that, so annoying. On the other hand, Master Ninjas have a base movement of 7 and a counter of 5, so I can't bring myself to switch over the one I have right now.
Even without a PSP, I am hoping this does well and NI is encouraged to make more platformers, or just keep testing other genres.

Super NI Brothers Brawl?
This game looks like it controls similarly to Metaknight in Brawl. I hope that's just the player in the video. I really want to want this. Hopefully it will be more like Megaman Zero.

Luckily NIS aren't known for making overly easy games with no depth.

Man, I can see I'm going to have to get this one already. 500+hrs on my psp copy of Disgaea:AoD and counting.
Don't mean to be a spoilsport, but I was getting all excited about this game, and then I saw the gameplay. Shit does that look boring. It's like every time you fight the game grinds to a complete halt.
Which I guess kind of makes sense, 'cause... Prinny. But that doesn't make it fun.

My zombie survival life simulator They Don't Sleep is out now on Steam if you want to check it out.

Well, it is only the first level(I think). Supposedly it gets much harder, as in you'll need all those lives they give you.
Though it'd have to be at I Wanna Be The Guy levels of insanity for that many to be needed.
OK, you bastards.
Thanks to your stupid enthusiasm, this game is day one bought'd. I'm also just after being on RosenQueen, ordered a bunch of Prinny- related stuff (Prinnyphernalia?). Sixty bucks worth. Add in shipping, and i have not much change out of a hundred.
I've been playing a preview UMD for a little while now, and I'm enjoying it a lot thus far. I wouldn't say that it's boring, but it's definitely very slow-paced. The controls are kinda clunky, but nothing unmanageable - they do make it quite a challenge to fill up the bonus guage, making it really satisfying when you do get the bonus.

We hope you like the Prinny comic page as much as we do!
The Prinny game is coming out really soon, and to get you guys geared up for the "Ultimate Hardcore Action game", we'd like to hold a Prinny "____, dood" Bottle Contest.
We want you to fill this comic with creative, funny, crazy, outrageous lyrics. Submit your best line to us at contest@nisamerica.com by February 9th, 2009.
Please send your text submission as a separate text file (txt or doc). And make sure to number your lines 1-6 so we can all follow along!
Don't forget to include your full name and physical address with your submission! We'll accept just one submission per person. So, you better think well and send us the best line you've got! And don't leave a single line blank, dood!
We'll pick 10 NISA staff favorites, and these who are chosen will receive a Prinny Juice Bottle. It'll come in handy when you are playing "Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero?" since we're sure you'll need something to drink when you're battling through the Netherworld trying to get all the ingredients for Etna's Ultra Desert!
So, get your brain rolling and come up with something clever!
Is it wrong that I know nothing about the series this is from and am sold just on the art style and gameplay alone? Cause man, that is a beautiful game.
Dammit video game industry. Since when is February an awesome gaming month? Dragon Quest 5, Street Fighter 4, Loco Roco 2, and now this... Come on! I need my moneys!
Does the Prinny completely stop while attacking, or is that just the player in that video who's doing that? I kinda like being able to attack while moving.

You stop while attacking. You also can't change momentum while jumping (think Bionic Commando - you have to do a running jump if you don't want it to just be vertical, and even then you have no control over your lateral movement). You adjust over time, but it still feels somewhat like something they threw in just to make the game harder.
What I played of the game, it feels like a NES game. In fact, it feels exactly like a G'n'G game, where the entire challenge comes from the levels being designed to fuck with your limited character control as much as possible. Not my cup of tea.
A perhaps unintentionally hillarious part of that comic is the fact that in the games, prinny explosions cause chain reactions. The entire audience is screwed.
So what do you peeps think of this so far? Has anyone gotten the orb on the 2nd tutorial level? It looks too high to hit with a jump. Also what are the "dolls" you are supposed to collect in the tutorial modes?
And why the hell are the first two bosses so easy when the rest of the board is pretty tricky? Stomp on head + pound away + stomp on head = gg!

Regarding the orb:
You can get the orb on the tutorial level by butt-stomping on the flying enemy and using him as a trampoline (you can do a jump after you butt-stomp something)
Also, I just fought the boss of the forest, and it was a good bit harder:
There's 2 of them at once!
The lucky dolls are just there to be a completionist's nightmare. There are 3 in each stage (more specifically there are 3 in each HOUR of each stage), they unlock "secrets" in the Monsterpedia and other goodies.

I liked it :}
I do hope the game turns out more....varied than the gameplay video of the demo

ALso, how does the mechanics of airborn explosive penguins work in this game? Is it what the humble spike to megaman is to our Prinny?
Not if the internet has anything to do about it she doesn't...

Super NI Brothers Brawl?
SO. GODDAMNED. CUTE.
Yep, I'm looking forward to this game~
It hasn't been unveiled yet, but it might turn out good, if their past exclusives are any indication(usually OST/artbook stuff).
I never asked for this!
Called it!
Also, the special edition... which doesn't seem worth it, at least to me. But hey, maybe you like collections:

It still looks like it'd be boring, even if it's really hard. Hard and boring.

One or two hits kills you and it's really hard to control (or at least, the enemies are more mobile that you).
Because damn. A fuckall hard platformer for the PSP is just what I need
If nothing else, the game is absolutely charming.
Oh, and I really dig the music so far too.
Maybe even torture a cat.
