I got myself a new computer, and as it is, it's time to reinstall all the software I use on a daily basis.
The last computer had one giant unwieldy partition and I thought this time I'd be smarter and have windows on a small 30 gig partition and have the rest of my nice new Terrabyte disk as a seperate partition for programs and data.
So far, so fine ... only problem: When I install something on C it works nicely and as expected. When I install something on D the program still works, but the program folder in the start menu is not a standard program folder as one is used to (program name, uninstall, maybe a readme) but instead a simple link to the actual folder, including links to EVERY SINGLE FILE AND SUBFOLDER in that folder ... including DLLs and everything. Which is really really annoying. I already used TweakUI to point the standard program folder to /programs but that had not any effect whatsoever on the installers, they still try to install everything to C: unless I tell them otherwise.
Anyone has an idea what makes my computer do that and how to make him stop it?

Well, I can tell you it's not related to partitioning directly. I've had 4 partitions for as long as I can remember, and things installed to them function normally, including the Start Menu.
