    does win7 finally fix all the woes of dual monitors? specifically, can you specify a per-monitor wallpaper without any third party addons?

    I use it for dual monitors at work every day, but you still can't specify separate wallpapers. It can crop them somewhat better, but still mirrored.

    so i'm guessing they didn't sort out the taskbars thing, either. that's too bad.

    Nah. Everything is on one taskbar on your main monitor. It's not as bad since all the programs are grouped into icons and you have the window previews when hovering. I wasn't a fan of having a taskbar for each window though, since I usually have only one app always up on the second screen and I'd somehow lose track of what screen certain things are on.

    I'm using something called Dexpot for virtual desktops and they have a neat feature in the current beta that puts a clock right into your desktop wallpaper. I'm using this one right now:
