And why do I bring this.. up?

Well, I'm glad you asked.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I789Pr5wLUc

So this seems like a good excuse to talk about Pixar or animation in general.

Because, you know, grumpy old man in a fucking balloon house boat thingy.

This is for you, Geek.

I would think it means something like he's never acted like an old man and after a while he starts to act his age, but that sounds awfully depressing for a Pixar movie.

Yeah I'd say it means something like he's finally accepting life as it comes to an end and just having fun with it. Sort of like that Scrubs episode where the woman is perfectly fine with dying and Zach Braff lists all those things to do and she's done it all

appearantly there's also this promise to travel the world that he made with his wife, but they never got to do it, because she died

so he's just going to do it in her honor or something along those lines

Kung Fu Panda was amazing, and now Monsters vs Aliens looks great too.

I'm not gonna say it's all because of Seth Rogan

It just wouldn't be an animation thread without Pony something something

you don't have to troll the subject to bring it out into the open, Pony

if you want to talk about your animays just man up and say instead of forcing people to start talking about and then coming like it's all you wanna talk about

we know you're knee deep in pocky and megatokyo posters

One character in Hellsing was inspired by the German play, Der Freischutz - The Magic Bullet Marksmen

She even sings a melody from that very play, set to the proper orchestra music, while shooting jets down with her magic bullet.

The good stuff starts at 2:20

I've been watching Gurren Lagann, too. It's pretty darn entertaining (GIANT ROBOT FIGHTS!), but something happened that bummed me the fuck out. Like I was in tears. But not as bad as the end of Cowboy Bebop.
