So, I was thinking of buying a pretty decently-priced Wii bundle from eBay. If the Wii is used, how does that affect the warranty? Am I still covered if within the 15 months of purchase, even though ownership has been transferred? Do I need a receipt (lots of auctions come with receipts) or is the serial # good enough?
Has the seller stated how old the system is or even if they've opened it? I would imagine that the serial # is good enough if you come across a problem and you'd end up having to call nintendo.
If the original owner ever registered the Wii with Nintendo then you are probably going to be out of luck as far as the warranty goes. Most warranties (the Wii included) only apply to the original owner, and if it's been registered then they know that you are not him.
That said, I don't know how strict they are about it, and Nintendo customer service is supposed to be pretty awesome. So you could still have a chance of them repairing it, but you'd have to count on them being nice rather than sticking to warranty terms.
Okay, that's kind of discouraging. I was hoping it was only based on the serial number.
Do you guys know if the same deal also applies to 360's? Because there's no way I'd buy a 360 w/o a possible warranty, stupid RROD (I'm debating between the two, leaning towards a Wii though).
EDIT: Never mind, I just saw the thread posted below. This can be locked.
