[spoiler:881d8c042f]Princess Crimea turns out alright when she joins the party[/spoiler:881d8c042f]

Marcia with a Full Guard, and if the RNG Goddess be with you, can turn out as well as Jill. I usually use her and Jill, because later on, Jill's weakness to arrows and Wind hardly matters, Full Guard or no.

The Knight Ring would work great early on Rhys, if there was some sort of Item Transfer from previous games. Just for fun anyway.

Because I'm on my 3rd playthrough of PoR (I plan on unlocking Ashnard, it's going to be a life goal) what does everyone like for scroll combinations for certain characters? I mean I haven't used characters like Makalov, Brom, and Tormod (or any Laguz for that matter besides the kings). I want to use characters I've neglected on my next few playthroughs (Easy Mode of course). Any people who use characters other than Nephenee, Ike, and Soren?

That's a bad thing? These units act as fodder, and one of them is an acceptable fighter. You can even summon them twice per battle! The only disadvantage is that they take away experience, but... well, it's hardly a valuable commodity in Path of Radiance.

I use Jill and Haar as my fliers, but I bring Tanith onto the battlefield just so I can use Reinforce then have her run out of harm's way.
It gets better - The experience the Reinforcement units would have gained is given back to you at the end of the battle as Bonus Experience.

Well... apparently. I've never used Reinforcements myself, so I'm not 100% sure.

Also, I've found that flying units don't need the Full Guard to be useful. There are not that many archers and wind magic users.

I have to agree with this. It is extremely easy to keep a winged unit with 8-9 movement out of harm's way. At worst you just have to use some ground units for cover. Of course, I have yet to play on Hard, but I love using Marcia for hit-and-run attacks (I use her and Jill, not far enough in the game to find any other flyers).

Wii games can detect controllers in the GCN section, so I assume they'd also be able to read from the memory card slot.

Well, you could say something about how levels could carry over and whatnot, but...

How 'bout PoR Support Levels become built-in support bonuses in GoD. So, let's say your Sothe and Astrid had A support in your PoR file, then in GoD they would get all the benifits of that A support without actually having used up 3 support levels.

I guess the problem with that would be the fact we don't know who will be playable from PoR. I mean, I'm sure we'll see cameos from the m ajor players including Ike and Elincia, but will we actually be able to use them in missions?

I sincerely doubt that many characters will be making a return. On your side, at least. The following is a handful of possible spoilers based on magazine scans of Goddess of Dawn.

[realspoiler:0202e6bf49]We know Sothe is one of the leads in Goddess of Dawn, if not the protaganist. From Path of Radiance we know that Sothe is a Daein. One magazine scan shows the silver-haired girl (that we can assume Sothe travels with) at a high level attacking King Caineghis. From what little we know, it seems perfectly feasable that you may end up being the bad guys. Not that it would be so simple as Crimea = Good, Daien = Bad, if this were true.[/realspoiler:0202e6bf49]

One rather easy implementation of past saves, and one that I hope is used, is to make minor changes to the history of Tellia. Say, if Ike and Elincia had an A-Support a tiny bit of the world's lore changes accordingly. I wouldn't cross your fingers, though. The chances of Path of Radiance/Goddess of Dawn save compatability are rather slim.

My Goddess of Dawn wishlist is simple:

Character portraits that change on promotion. Ike's portrait changes when he becomes a Lord. Volke's changes when he reveals himself. Both look fantastic. It's a great shame that when other characters are promoted their portraits still wear their knackered old paper-thin armour.

More magic/physical crossover classes like Mist's Valkyrie and Princess Elincia. A bit of a no-brainer, since all classes now have a Strength/Magic attribute.

More classes. Path of Radiance had the Lord, Valkyrie, Paladin, Sage, Bishop, Falcon Knight, Wyvern Knight, Sniper, General, Swordmaster, Warrior, Berserker, Assassin and the Laguz. A good start would be to bring back the Cavalier and Nomad/Ranger and scrap the Sword/Lance/Axe/Bow Knight idea. It's a tad dull when all your characters look the same. In this same vein, more promotion options. It'd be pretty neat to tie this in with more classes and magical/physical hybrids. Say, where in Path of Radiance if you got a Knight to level 20, he would automatically become a Paladin and you could pick a second weapon. Why not cross this system with The Sacred Stones' fancy promotion tree? Say, get a Cavalier to level 20, then you're presented with different classes to promote to (major differences being promotion bonuses and attribute caps, which should be made visible to the player, unlike in The Sacred Stones). Let's say you pick a Paladin. Cue fancy promotion animation, then you pick another bonus to further specialise your character. In the case of a Paladin, one could be presente a choice like Axes/Bows/Light Magic. Oh, just thinking of all the possibilities gets me giddy. I'm not too hopeful, though.

More supports. There's a huge roster of characters available, yet most can only support with three or four others. Said three or four others are probably ones you don't use. Not fancy.

Oh, and terrain bonuses, please. All there is in Path of Radiance is bushes offering +1 Defense, +10 Avoid.

I have such high hopes for Goddess of Dawn. Path of Radiance seemed to be a rush job in parts, but Intelligent Systems appears to have the time to make Goddess of Dawn super-neat.

I'd also like the ability to reread support conversations at the options menu. And character endings like the GBA would be nice. IE Ike and Elincia get married if you give them an A support.

Also, I've seen your scan and if the what the shadow tells the last villian in PoR is true, people are in for a world of hurt.

Actually, I have only one... well, two Goddess of Dawn wishes.

    1) Unlocked Support Convos are saved and can be viewed later. They did this on the GBA games and I was really disappointed when it didn't happen in Path of Radiance. I really like the supports and I really like rereading them, because they add characterisation to your army.

    2) More Branded. Path of Radiance was all about (resolving) the conflict between beorc and laguz and that was great. But the Branded kind of got the short end of the stick. There were hints of interesting things, but only if you went out of your way to find them (mostly supports and boss conversations). The Branded just didn't show up in the main plotline (yes, Soren and Petrine showed up a lot, but no mention of their heritage and the conflict it brings is made). So here's hoping Goddess of Dawn will deal with these forgotten people.

Jill does start out somewhat slow, especially compared to the crows you're facing at that point. On the other hand, her Speed growth of 45% is actually pretty decent and she probably won't have much problems with her Speed after a bit of levelling.

    So... your choice, really.

You are right I'm sure. I suppose I exagerrated a bit. I give Ike bonus items early on, but later on I pick and choose more. I've only played through twice, I have yet to finish (I totally will at Christmas break), and this is my first Fire Emblem game, so I am kinda a "noob".

So I have the biggest horror story in FE ever. In FE7 I played obssessivly for two days. I made it til cog of destiny and decided to take a of the game for a few weeks. After the break I picked it up only to find out that my game was erased. Being dedicated to the game, I decided to just restart it and work my way through. Once again my game erased but this time at one of the first dragon gate levels. I have tried to play this game 5 times yet still can not beat it due to these strange technical difficulties. Could someone have pity on me and real spoil what happens from cog of destiny to the end for me? It would be much appreciated.

I think I can manage any one or two of the objectives easily enough. But between trying to make off with the loot, kill all the enemy soldiers, and protecting the base, it gets to be a bit much.

Is there any way to get Volke and Sothe to the loot quickly without them getting killed in the process? Because that'd be grand.

Ah, yeah, I might have one or two. Getting the thieves over to the third ship is what worries me, so if I do, it might get a hell of a lot easier.

Here is what I do to get most of the chests in that level:

[spoiler:3e970b1330] Give one to titania and one to oscar as well as a few vulneries. Also during unit set up be sure to put volke in a good position to get the chests on the left side of the second boat. You have to be careful with this otherwise you can't put a laguez or calvery unit to protect Astrid. Now start the battle and use oscar to get the chest on the left side of the second ship while sending Titania to cover the left formost plank.

Push the rest of your troops down the middle and you should be able to kill most of the enemy borec before the crows arrive and secure all but 2 chests. Just steal the items or kill the crows to retrieve them. [/spoiler:3e970b1330]

Could someone have pity on me and real spoil what happens from cog of destiny to the end for me? It would be much appreciated.
I'm doing this from memory, but...

[realspoiler:b27f56ecc6]Once you beat Cog of Destiny, Athos shows up. He takes the group underground to meet the only other surviving member of the ancient heroes - Brammimond, a dark mage who has been consumed by the ancient and no longer has a real sense of self. Athos wants Brammimond to erase the seals that keep the legendary weapons hidden. Brammimond has its doubts, but complies anyway.

In Eliwood's route, you go to the cave where you find Roland's sword, Durandal. In Hector's route, you go to retrieve the axe of Durban the berserker, Armads. When Hector recieves the axe, the ghost of Durban warns him that anyone who wields it will die on the battlefield.

Somewhere during all of this (and I'm honestly not sure exactly when), Nergal shows up and threatens to kill everyone to get Nils and Ninian. Ninian agrees to go with Nergal on the condition that Nils and everyone else won't be harmed. Nergal agrees and after taking Ninian, tries to kill everyone with an earthquake, but they all get saved by Athos.

Anyways, after Durandal is retrieved and Eliwood and company leave the cave, they are suddenly confronted by an ice dragon. Possibly reacting to the magic in Durandal, Eliwood grabs the sword and slays the dragon.

    The dragon is Ninian.

Nergal shows up again to gloat about how Eliwood so casually slew someone who was supposed to be so dear to him and then leaves again.

Rather shaken by the whole thing, the party travels to Castle Ostia to take a breather. Curiously, Marquess Uther isn't there, but has gone to a conference in Etruria (in Hector's route, however, you learn that Uther has actually succumbed to his illness). While everybody was relaxing, Athos tells the story of himself and Nergal. Apparently they met up when wandering Nabata and became friends. Then they discovered Arcadia, a village deep in the desert where humans and dragons still lived in peace and harmony. Athos and Nergal stayed there for a long time. But during this time, Nergal learned the secret of stealing life and using it to create. Nergal was cast from Arcadia, but by then it was probably too late. Athos shrouded Arcadia in an eternal sandstorm, then laid a trap for Nergal in the desert, but Nergal never showed up.

After Athos's storytime, the army is attacked by Nergal's Morphs lead by the Sniper Denning ("I have a message from Lord Nergal. I await you on the Dread Isle. I have a message from Lord Nergal. I await you on the Dread Isle. I have a message...").

Fed up with Nergal attacking them all the time, the army heads for the Dread Isle. There they face Limstella and a seemingly infinite number of Morphs. In Hector's route, it's possible to go on another sidequest to learn more about Kishuna, the magic seal, who was the first Morph Nergal created to have emotions - and who was then spurned for being far too useless.

Then the group heads for the Dragon's Gate to face Nergal. But Nergal isn't alone. He's created a group of Morphs modelled after Brendan, Darin, Kenneth, Linus, Lloyd, Jerme, Uhai and Ursula. These Morphs never say anything, but when they are slain they regain the complexion they had when they were human and die smiling.

Nergal is defeated, but the dude just won't go quietly. With his last breath, he opens the Dragon's Gate and three fire dragons emerge. At this point, god appears from the machine in the form of Brammimond. It has Ninian with it and it somehow uses its magic to restore Ninian's soul and bring her back to life. Ninian then proceeds to ice blast the dragons, sending two of them back and weakening the third. The group then battles and defeats the last dragon.

The day is saved (hurrah). Athos, utterly exhaused, dies from old age, but not before uttering a prophecy. He sees that evil will rise in Bern once again, but he also sees Lycia rising up to meet the threat.

When Athos is gone, Nils and Ninian decide what to do. Nils goes through the Dragon's Gate to return to his own world and Ninian follows him, unless she has an A support with Eliwood. In that case, of course, Ninian stays and marries Eliwood.

Eliwood becomes Marquess Pherae and Hector becomes Marquess Ostia. They both marry (although it's not clear who they marry) and father at least one child. Eliwood gets a son he names Roy and Hector gets a daughter he names Lillina.

Meanwhile, in Bern, King Desmond has died in highly mysterious circumstances and Zephiel has taken the throne. But he's no longer the nice little boy you struggled to save in Battle Before Dawn. Older and a great deal more bitter, Zephiel is very interested in hearing the promises of mysteriously cloaked man. Promises of power. And dragons.[/realspoiler:b27f56ecc6]

Any news on a DS release of a Fire Emblem game? I'm on this freaking craze with my DS and need more.
    Nope. No word so far.

Even though it's already over a year old, Path of Radiance for the GameCube is still the latest.
What about on the GBA? (I have no Gamecube yet)

Only Fire Emblem and Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones have been released on the GBA (Fire Emblem 7 and 8 respectively, by the way). Of these, Sacred Stones is the latest. On the other hand, Fire Emblem stars Eliwood, better known as "the father of Roy from Super Smash Brothers". :P

Man, chapter 13's a pain in the ass.

    Goddamn crows.

Jill, Ike, and a Myrmidon with a laguzslayer is what you need.

Did you save any of your chest keys?
Ah, yeah, I might have one or two. Getting the thieves over to the third ship is what worries me, so if I do, it might get a hell of a lot easier.

Here is what I do to get most of the chests in that level:

[spoiler:1080622318] Give one to titania and one to oscar as well as a few vulneries.

[/spoiler:1080622318]
My basic strategy for that chapter is thus:
[spoiler:1080622318]Send powerful melee units ahead, followed by the ranged/casters. Should be able to block Astrid from being killed in the first turn if you have a couple of long-range (mounted/laguz) units. After that, keep an eye on the capture point, crows can get to it easily unless you have someone standing on it, so be ready to cover it.

Basically you want to clear the middle boat and get to the bridges fast, then you can push the middle/left side and clear it out with a large part of your force before the crows even get there. Send Titania to the left, Oscar (or any other tank unit) to the middle, and Ike to the right. Titania will then kill a ton of enemies as they run to her on the left side. Yeah you lose some EXP, but at this point in the game if you have held Titania back the EXP is not entirely wasted on her, and it means you can clear the main force on the third boat rapidly.

I use Sothe to get the closer chest on the middle boat first, then the chests on the right side of the middle-boat second (I don't have Volke), then I get most of the other chests simply by killing crows after they open the chests. This keeps Sothe out of harm's way. After killing the archer boss I use Sothe to get the top-right chest. Once you get all the chests, the crows leave.

A related tip for this level. After the middle boat is clear you can use your units to "Rescue" the green (NPC) units so that they don't take any of your EXP by attacking/killing enemies.[/spoiler:1080622318]

    With regard to Astrid/Gatrie:
[spoiler:1080622318]Speak to Astrid with Ike on turn 2 and she'll join you, then you can keep her out of harm's way much easier (and of course, use her later on if you wish). Also on turn 2, use Astrid to speak to Gatrie, and he will join you as well, giving you another tank.. useful for this chapter certainly (I use him on the right side).[/spoiler:1080622318]
