Vista Media Center Audio Issue

I've been having an issue with the audio in Vista 64 that I've managed to narrow down to Windows Media Center - If I'm watching a video in Media center but then try to use any audio (directsound?) application like Ventrillo or Skype or try to watch a video in my browser the audio remains muted - If I close both Media Center and the other application and then reopen the application I can fix it but I cant have Media Center and say Vent running at the same time - or just pause the video and play another video in a browser - I'm usnig an audigy 2 video card with spdif out to a Dolby Digital receiver - any Ideas ? Thanks in advance
