I've had plenty of pot-growing friends, and the hard-working indigenous people's of South America would have to find a whole new livelihood if Wall Street ever stopped getting high.
Homegrown I don't mind. But not everyone has access to homegrown. Other people get their stuff from horrible assholes who do horrible things to people and who cannot always be trusted to produce a clean product - I'm pretty sure the "pot" in the Oakhurst area is actually chronic, for instance, because the kids there are -incredibly abusive- of the stuff.
Personally I'm all for legalization of drugs. It would make Mexico a less scary place.
Also I'd have so much less competition, since I won't touch anything worse than an energy drink.
Medo: So are you one of those people going after teenagers who smoked pot once or are you more about the mob behind the trade or something? Also, what do you think of the old soft drugs/hard drugs divide the Netherlands used to use/still kinda uses?
I'm not sure what my favorite song about cocaine is.
If you want to hang out, you’ve got to take her out, cocaine
If you want to get down, get down on the ground, cocaine
She don’t lie, she don’t lie, she don’t lie, cocaine
If you got bad news, you want to kick them blues, cocaine
When your day is done and you got to run, cocaine
She don’t lie, she don’t lie, she don’t lie, cocaine
If your thing is gone and you want to ride on, cocaine
Don’t forget this fact, you can’t get it back, cocaine
She don’t lie, she don’t lie, she don’t lie, cocaine

This entire discussion is alien to me. Never seen/smelt/tasted any type of illicit drug, no idea where one would get them to begin with, and no want of them ever.

I think pot should be legalized. Also I'd like to see drug laws changed a lot, but that's a whole other topic. I think a lot of them are much too harsh.
As for your second question, could you give more info?
To be fair, I really can't think of a good reason why pot should be illegal while alcohol and cigarettes are legal. And this comes from someone who doesn't like pot or pot heads.
The best part about being a lawyer is doing certain things will get you disbarred, but doing the same things while drunk or on coke will not get you disbarred.
This is what I learned from my professional responsibility class.

I've heard 'chronic' to mean pot sprinkled with cocaine. Is that what you mean here? Because no for-profit dealer would ever lace cheap drugs (pot) with incredibly expensive drugs (cocaine). Especially since the ideal temperatures for smoking each are such that when burning the pot, most of the cocaine would be destroyed and wasted.

Mitigating factors
Isn't it not considered a mitigating circumstance if you chose to get fucked up? Also, what gets someone disbarred anyway? Does it have to be something related to corruption/abuse of power, or are you boned if you get caught with a hooker or something?

Dunno. I hear it's fairly expensive up there. All I know is that one of the dealers has managed to form a quasi-cult around himself by selling his product. Apparently one of the more fucked up kids has even shown up to class stoned, all munching on cupcakes and such.

Lawyers in general have problems with alcohol and drug addiction. The disciplinary board will take into account that you were struggling with addiction when you fucked up your clients case or did some other infraction.

You say that as if it were an unusual thing.

I put that song on the mixtape that my basketball team warmed up to in high school

But then All The Cocaine In The World (Won't Bring Back The Girl) by the Webb Brothers is also pretty great.

Are you sure you didn't just get high in a barn?
This is what I learned from my professional responsibility class.
Everybody loves a drunk.
We never actually had a barn, just little horse stalls.
Ankle-deep in horse manure.

Wait, you mean Womanizer?
We can't be friends anymore.
Mod stalkin'.

And it takes a lot to get disbarred completely.
You say that as if it were an unusual thing.
Yea, just look at Whacko Jacko.
