In the fifth installment of the Call of Duty series, the Krauts are at it again. Except this time you get to fight the Japs too. Who knew.
Though this is made by Treyarch which got a bum rap for CoD3 and it's not CoD4, IT'S A SURPRISINGLY GOOD GAME. It's quite polished and has a penchance for using archival footage as cutscenes. Basically they took Infinity Ward's engine and put in World War II and threw in a bunch of cool stuff. And some ridiculous achievement challenges.
Fight across the Pacific Theater from Peleliu to Okinawa.
Use a flamethrower to burn your enemies out of the trees.
Fight the Japs to the last breath who will literally do anything and everything to kill you. Especially martyrdom and banzai attacks.

Fight the Nazis across the frozen wastes of Russia.
Battle enemy snipers in a mad dash to nail a Nazi general.
Run over Nazi pigs with a tank, comrade.

Well what's the point?

But it was fun when I could see them.
The hardcore modes are weird. Some places still have the normal damage, but no hud, some places it's hardcore damage and no hud.
Still, it's a fun game.
The Krauts are always easy to spot with their grey uniforms. For the Japs look for anyone in camo or in a whitish uniform.
And don't shoot Kiefer Sutherland.
I'm sure this game is fine alone, but I played it split screen. The screens don't cover up both halves of the screen, they kinda shrink it a bit and add some background to the back of it blah blah blah, it looks weird.
I assumed everyone would prolly pick this up during the holiday specials when it will be offed twenty bucks off on sale at Target like when I bought CoD4 but I figured I'd be preemptive unless anyone like traded in five games to get this.

Have you ever fought Nazis with a double barreled shotgun? Have you ever seen their LEGS FLY OFF WHEN YOU SHOT THEM?
I played my friend's copy of this last night with him. He was doing pretty alright. Then I got on and took up the Double Barrel Shotgun and went 19 and 8, 24 and 6, that kind of thing. 8-)

I played it briefly on the 360 (Had to sell it now to afford another one) and was disappointed that hardcore was level locked (But it's not on the PC)
I got a 10 kill streak on my first team match. Think I had like two or three deaths. This was with no custom classes.
Probably going to get it on the PC though, the tank controls are much better.

And it's leaps and bounds better than CoD3. In fact in the series, I'd place it in a tie with CoD2 for the best game after CoD4. This coming from someone who actually played CoD3. Quite a bit actually.
