The internet theory

edited November 2008 in Games and Technology
Let me start by saying I have been on the internet since I was 10 years old. I think its fair to say the internet has brought us a lot of good things over the years and a lot of bad things.

Now, the internet is one giant pool of information and thoughts collected in pictures, text, and thoughts typed out, contrived of and given life by other peoples impressions. Think of the internet as mind food for a second, much like reading a book for knowledge is. Now you can either feed on smart information, read other peoples feelings on daily life, or learn something completely new and different than what you're used to.

The internet is shaping your every day lives. Depending on what you read and see, be it junk thoughts or smart thoughts, video games or politics, game design or hype for something new. The internet is not only created for information for you to form your own opinion on but to shape how we think.

How we read something and when we read something affects our brain much more than what you see on the news, or what you saw on television last night. Solely because we are constantly reading about it and seeing it, it helps drive the point even further. The repetitive nature of the internet is its sure genius.

You are what you eat after all.

The Internet is actually a massive data processing system capable of controlling information on a global scale. That's right. The system's a social device for maintaining the government's control. In this day and age, information emerges from every direction, and is freely distributed...a variety of information - gathered by servers employing the latest in high-speed communication networks - and P2P technology - is rapidly circulated to individuals. In fact, the speed of this circulation process is accelerating on an almost daily basis. The government seem to be afraid of this development. Apparently, they believe that their role will shift from dominant to dominated. Look at it like this; political scandal, corporate corruption...up until now, the government has managed to keep a lid on these and other self-serving events. But with their existing data processing system, they are no longer able to effectively control the flow of information generated at the individual level. With their newly created system, they can fully regulate digital information. High-level information can be categorized in stages, given clearance levels, and deleted as necessary - never to be seen by the public. By deleting such information, the government can shape the course of history as they see fit. No one should catch on, as the memory capacity - not to mention the life span - of the average individual is extremely limited. On the other hand, digital information lasts virtually forever...it doesn't deteriorate.

The alphabet... twenty-six letters, right? It could've been thirty letters. What if the 4 deleted letters were controlled by a program? Not impossible...in fact, something similar is already underway.

And the cool thing about PA is that we put people in their place. Makes us seem like dicks, but the sooner someone realizes their "unique and original thoughts" aren't, they're forced to either

    A) Defend themselves and thus improve their arguments, opening the path to actual unique thoughts

    B) Act like self-righteous geniuses and we're the idiots, making it known that they can be safely avoided

both of which are pretty good outcomes for the world-at-large, though I'd prefer the first.

You know, it's a really bad misconception that we are somehow better than the rest of the internet, that we're all smart people and we make sure the unwashed masses stay away from our nerd paradise. I don't think OP is a retard. I also don't disagree. I CAN'T disagree because I have absolutely no idea what the point of it is. It was something like "the internet has changed us", but there is absolutely no content or analysis as to how or why.

The result is contentless nonsense, which is coincidentally what a great deal of the internet is. The internet changes us indeed. Combine that with the allusion in the thread title and you've got a laugh.

It's about how the genius of the internet is its repetitiveness. Or something. Because no other media is repetitive, especially not TV. Oh lord no. And this repetitive information is changing us, it's making us think those thoughts it writes as we read them in our brain boxes. Oh yes.
