A fairly urgent question regarding ancient Celtic/Irish artwork.... seriously

I'm writing a paper on the artistic trends in Ireland, from prehistoric times up till about 1500. It's due tomorrow. I'm lame, I've been getting killed with work, I put the paper off until tonight. I will not be leaving the library tonight.

ANYWAY- quick, random question. Anybody know the name for those fancy spiral designs throughout a lot of Celtic artwork? I know it's in my notes somewhere, but I'm have no idea where I wrote it down and my google-fu is off.

    Was it triskel?

Triskele isn't the word I was thinking of exactly, but it's a lot better than what I could come up with... Which was nothing. I feel like there's another word that we used in class, but I suppose triskele will do the job just fine. I could have just been half asleep and imagined it.

I guess this can be locked, unless somebody REALLY wants to follow this wild goose chase for a word that may or may not exist.

    Thanks for the quick response.

Do you mean "Archimedean" perhaps? That's the kind of spirals which are used.
