Ok so grandma is getting a PS3, yeah don't ask, it just happened. So I wanna teach her how to use the PS3 as a media server so she doesn't have to keep buying discs and losing them and calling me and asking me how to use Nero.
I need a media server software easy enough for her to use. She knows how to use a computer (it's not a "magic light box" to her) so some difficulty is ok, but still easy enough you know?
Personally I'm using TVersity, which is ok.

I would second TVersity, but if she already knows how to use Windows Media Player 11 than she could always use it. It's slower than a quadriplegic turtle, but it gets the job done.

Garry: I know you gentlemen have been through a lot, but when you find the time I'd rather not spend the rest of the winter TIED TO THIS FUCKING COUCH!
set tversity to start up with windows and there shouldn't be a great deal of issues. you might need to show her how to restart the server (by right clicking on the tray icon), because i've had problems with it being instantly detected in the current iteration - but i'm not entirely sure if that's because of the tversity version, windows itself or the ps3's firmware
really you won't find anything that does a better job, especially now that tversity 1.0 suports stuff like album art
