So I've finally decided to get an HDTV, and would like some advice from you guys.
I'm willing to spend 600-1000 dollars, and the size should be around 40-50''.
Now, I have no idea about anything concerning HDTVs. I just want an HDTV that looks
good...Any suggestions on a particular model that has good quality at a low price? (I'd be using it to play my 360 and PS3).
How about this one?
P.S. I posted in the official TV thread in Moe's Technology Tavern, but no one has responded in 16 hours and I kind of need to know by Thursday at the latest.
Thanks.

At the lower end of your price range, you could pick up a Vizio 42" 720p. A budget brand, but with decent picture. I have a budget TV myself--an Olevia--and the picture is great, better than Vizio IMO, but the company went out of business recently so no more warranty support.
A few brands I would avoid: Envision, Westinghouse, Polaroid, ViewSonic.
Good brands: Samsung, Panasonic, Sony, LG, Vizio, maybe some others
About 720p versus 1080p: Your 360 and PS3 will not take advantage of 1080p for gaming, only 720p. HDTV broadcasts are also in 720p. Blu-ray is currently the only thing that really uses 1080p, and around 40" the difference won't be too noticeable. However, down the road, the next generation of consoles will probably support 1080p. So keep that in mind when making your purchase.

It's a refurb, but I'll most likely be buying this tv, 42PFL7403D/27E, tonight. Has a 2ms response time, high contrast ratio, and 120hz (whatever that is :P ).
My Xbox 360 Elite puts out 1080p using the HDMI connection --- I haven't compared it to 720p to see if there's actually a difference, but my Bravia sees the signal as 1080p.
This I did not know
