Is there still a bit of a shortage? I am having to sell mine to get a nice gift for the holidays and wondering if gamestop is going to give me pennies or nickels.
For the love of God, don't sell it to Gamestop. They'll give you half of what it's worth in store credit, and half of that if you want actual cash.
Put it up on your local Craigslist/Kijiji site. Include clear pictures, specify local transactions only, and ask for about 20-25% less than the total price of paying new prices for everything included (ie, games, charge kits, extra controllers). At this time of year, you should be able to get that much fairly easily. Even when places do have Wiis in stock, there are plenty of people who would rather buy used to save a bit of money, especially when dealing with a system that doesn't have a terrible reputation for reliability.
Craigslist or eBay. Don’t sell anything to Gamestop. And for that matter, don’t shop there! Those vultures are scum!
Yeah, screw them for trying to make some money right?
I will agree that you should just try selling the console locally, you will make more money for yourself that way. Gamestop is not evil in what they do, but they are trying to make money too, so they won't really give you as much as an individual might.
Don't expect to get too much for it, in new England at least, we're up to our elbows in Wii and when it comes to the Holidays gift buying people want new not used.
I just sold my Wii on eBay (with component cables) and was able to get right at the original purchase price (including tax) for it. I can't ask for much more than that from a system I've had for almost two years.

Yeah, I've noticed a lot of Wiis around Houston, too. I was looking eBay to buy one, and they aren't really selling for all that much. I think the days of the $500 Wii sale are long over.
Also, a note to anyone shopping on eBay, if you use Microsoft's Live Cash Back program you can get 25% off. FYI.
Depends on which state "the gunshine state" is. In Maryland they're not abundant, and are occasionally completely sold out.
If you put it up on craigslist or eBay, you will probably get someone to buy it from you for about what you paid for it, since as soon as someone can't find one at Target or wherever, they'll try to get it from some dude online rather than wait. A lot of people REALLY hate shopping in December (myself included).

You can make most, if not all, of your money back from your original purchase.

Feel free to buy from gamestop though.
