Very quick punctuation question re: parenthesis and periods [Solved]
So let's say I end a sentence with a bit in parenthesis, where do I place the ending punctuation?
Do I place it outside the parenthesis at the end? Or inside the parenthesis at the end? Keep in mind I do not want to make the parenthetical statement a seperate sentence, as it is not something that stands on its own.
Example.
-Jack had a good idea (at least at the time).
-Jack had a good idea (at least at the time.)
What's the score with this little situation?
Edit - Of course Google finds me the answer right after I make this topic, even though searching beforehand gave me nothing for this specific situation. Bleh. Ignore.
An easy way to think about this in future is making sure that if you removed the parentheses that the sentence would still make sense. As a rule of thumb, though, punctuation goes outside.
