Right then, I have enough money to get two 360 games, and currently have a fair old list to choose from and as I am amazingly indescisive I would like your help H/A!
The list is:
-Fallout 3
-Red Alert 3
-Left 4 Dead
-Endwar
-COD World at War
If you want to know what I have so you can judge my game preferences:
-Halo3
-COD4
-Dead Rising
-Civ:Rev
-Assasin's Creed
I honestly wasn't too thrilled on CoD5, and COD4 was my favorite game last year by a good margin, and is still my favorite game for multiplayer. I'd go for Left 4 Dead and Fallout 3.
Don't get Fallout 3 for the 360; get it for the PC, and if you have to wait a few months until your next upgrade, so be it. (Though it runs just fine for me on a bargain system I built myself a year and a half ago).
Fallout 3 is ridiculously buggy. NPCs spawn 100 feet above ground and instantly plummet to their deaths, useful or necessary items clip through the ground to become inaccessible... it's a mess. A glorious mess, but still. On a PC, you can work around those bugs by just using the console to respawn that NPC or give yourself that item. On a 360, you're shit out of luck.
The PC version can also take advantage of the dozens of awesome mods that are already available for the game. So yeah, absolutely buy Fallout 3, but don't buy it for the 360.
Endwar is absolutely a rental, but I would advise against buying it. It has some quirky, cool functions, but once you get past the innovative/not used very often voice support, the game is a very simplistic RTS. It's still fun, and there's plenty of game to master, but I think most people will be done with it after a week or two.
If you have people to play it with Left 4 dead is a blast. I have only really heard negativity about CoD World at war, I personally hated fallout as well. The other two I know nothing about so out of those I have to just say go with Left 4 dead.

See, I thought EndWar could be played completely with voice.

Oh, when I said "not used very often" it wasn't about the game. You certainly can play the game mostly in voice, and I encourage it. I was trying to head someone off before they told me that the voice activated gameplay wasn't innovative. I saw that argument already. Sure, someone else has done it, but not many games do, and I think EndWar definitely stepped it up on front. Did a bang-up job of it, too. Just not enough gameplay meat in there, sadly.
See, I'm tempted to buy L4D too, but I'm worried about that there won't be enough 'meat', even with multiplayer. Especially since Valve pretty much ignored the console versions of TF2

L4D for it's great multiplayer support that will last you for a while, and FO3 for its singleplayer that will last you a while.
I hear Red Alert is actually amazing, and I'd go for that based on your other tastes.
