How do you toggle time compression? I've gone through the keybindings a few times now from top to bottom, done some searches in the .pdf for the manual and read through the readme and I can't find it for the life of me.
I could swear there is. I remembering using the hell out of it because playing a 4 player+ skirmish games became frighteningly more enjoyable once someone pointed it out to me. Maybe it was just me beginning to play on higher speeds and constantly using pause to issue orders but I could have sworn there was a way to toggle through the game speeds in the middle of a skirmish.
Not in online multiplayer. Vanilla Sins has no time function. You need to use the console. There is a sticky on the sins forums I think. Something like timescale=1 and 2 and etc.
Naw I'm just doing skirmishes. I started playing mainly because I want to see how pretty the game looks on this PC (very as it turns out) and got sucked back in to trying to finish all the skirmish scenarios.
Damn though, that means getting through this particular one is going to take awhile. For the future ones I think I'll just play on a higher speed and use pause I suppose.
The +/- keys allow you to control the acceleration/deacceleration of time. It goes up to 8X speed which is like watching a movie on fast forward. We'll be adding GUI buttons for this in the upcoming Entrenchment expansion pack.
Followup- Do you need to have patched the game for this to work?
I know I tried those, repeatedly actually because that's exactly what I remembered working, but also forgot to patch before starting the skirmish i'm nearly done with (four systems, four players, 60ish worlds, don't want to start that over).
