Hi, could anyone point me in the direction of a good free PDF editor? An unhelpful site for a job I'm applying to has given me a PDF document to fill in and email back and there's about a zillion programs coming up on google. Thanks.

Not really free, but you can use an evaluation version of Foxit PDF Editor to edit and save PDFs, albeit with a watermark. There is an option to get a free license for it on the site, but its one of em "Sign up for some other random service like lovefilm.com and get free shit" things, which will prolly still cost you something.

Alternatively, if you have access to either adobe illustrator or photoshop, they can both edit and save pdfs (Illustrator is better).
Or another alternative is to use the Print Screen button on yer keyboard to screen capture the pdf file, drop it into a image editor (MSpaint, or better yet Paint.net / Gimp) or Office program (Word/Works/OpenOffice), edit it, then dump it back out to PDF using a freeware PDF printer like CutePDF.

If the recruiter isn't a god damned idiot, they should have made the fields user editable in Adobe Reader.

Aye, works a treat if you just want to edit a coupla lines of text/add a picture etc. Illustrator is better coz it keeps the text formatted as text, so its still copy/pastable from the PDF and it keeps the file size down, whereas photoshop just saves the edited thing as one huuuge image - nasty file sizes o_O
