Network USB Adapter problem

Hey guys,
I am not sure if this is the right forum or if the technology forum would be better but I currently have a problem with my network usb adapter.

Last night I was connected to the wireless network fine, and then I got disconnected and the adapter stopped working. It could not acquire a network address. I tried using a different adapter I had to see if the old one just busted for some reason, and it did the same thing.

I tried restarting my computer, the router, and the cable modem itself. The problem persisted. Now, whenever I plug either one of the usb adapters in to any of my USB ports, I get the "triple beep" and nothing happens.
My mom and dad's laptops are accessing the network just fine, but they have internal network cards. I have no idea what is wrong and its drving me crazy! Does anyone know what to do next or have any suggestions?

Thanks.

Have you tried any other USB devices? It kind of sounds like your USB bus may be shitting itself. This could be from driver corruption or it could be a physical problem with the system board.

I don't really use any other USB devices, just my USB mouse.

I fixed the "triple beep" problem. I went into the device manager and plugged both of the wireless adapters in and they showed up as disabled. I re-enabled them and now I am back to problem 1. It connects, but it won't assign a network address. I don't understand why it would work for my parents' laptops but not mine. GRRR.
Oh well, atleast I have this network cable or I'd really be screwed :p

EDIT: On a side note, when I plugged them back in, they appeared as Wireless Adapter #2 or #4. I went to the options and apparently I have 4 instances of the USB driver running. I am not sure if that would have impact but I found it as odd. Maybe it is one for each USB port?

I don't think so. Atleast, I haven't set one myself.

I tried going into the router and assigning an IP reservation to my computer using the usb adapter's MAC address, but it didn't work :(

I noticed something weird. I did an ipconfig /all and its assigning 192.168.0.1 to the wireless adapter, which is supposed to be reserved as the router's IP address on the network. Also, DHCP is disabled on the device. This is probably my problem, but I'm not sure how to fix it since the device is pretty limited

Check your WLAN adapter properties and make sure Internet Connection Sharing is turned off.

I don't see any option for that. The configuration is really simple as I said before. Bah, this whole thing just sucks

If you have any dialup connections, check the advanced properties of those too.

I found the problem. The TCP/IP settings for both adapters was set to static 192.168.0.1 for some reason. They set that themselves because I didn't change it, and it was working fine before hand. I'm not sure how they did that but I set them to use DHCP again now and they work like a charm.

    Thanks for everyone's help :D
